Happened to me once Pete - the prog was wet yet still sealed inside the plastic bag. A quick email to the ever-helpful Denise got me a free replacement though  :)

Neil Ford once again I am in awe. Neck-deep in awe in fact!

Haven't posted any art on here for a while - here's my latest Dredd pic :)

Bloody Christ, over ten posts and no Beaky rearing up from his self-imposed riddance to register his disgust?

Too busy planning his big day.

Film & TV / Re: Star Wars plans

I'm absolutely thrilled by this latest news TBH. Of course it's largely motivated by Disney wanting a quick return on that investment, but they seem to be opening the books to a host of creative talent and sure, we'll probably get the odd duffer but the law of averages dictates we'll get some great ones too. And just because they're being fast-tracked like this, again doesn't mean the quality will suffer necessarily.

A Boba-Fett movie would own (to use the parlance of our times), or in fact a movie that focuses on all those classic bounty hunters seen on the deck of the Star Destroyer in 'Empire'.

Official stream of the new my bloody valentine album. Good stuff, not a massive departure and has its ups and downs but the last three tracks are all outstanding.

It's insane! As someone else put it, MBV are truly peerless.

Hellboy, BPRD and all related titles

I got the first two TPB's of Hellboy and I love Mignola's art but the actual stories didn't do much for me, does the series get better or are those two a good example of the writing? Every volume seems to have glowing reviews so I've been a bit hesitant to pick any more up.

My favourite volumes of Hellboy are the Fegredo-drawn ones - Darkness Calls, The Wild Hunt and The Storm & The Fury are, for me, where it all begins to cohere into a really solid and dramatic tale, shot through with all the best bits of British folklore. Now that Mignola is back on art duties I really miss Fegredo! (Heresy I know).

I fell victim to the hype surrounding this and got my hopes up way to high. What I got was a typical Tarantino movie, but overlong by a good hour I reckon. Enjoyed it, but it's no masterpiece.

Books & Comics / Re: Whats everyone reading?

Approaching the end of the first 'Charley's War' hardback. The first day of The Somme, with the British troops walking across no man's land after the top brass assured them the German defenses would be reduced to rubble, and the inevitable horrific outcome was very emotional and hard to read. What an uncompromising tribute to the men who died in their millions during that awful conflict. I have to admit to not being a fan of Mills' recent output but this one is a fantastically crafted saga. Joe Colqhoun's art too - the hours he must have put in researching all the period detail alone, and without Google images too. An Herculean effort.

Gonna be ordering the next one in February I think.

Prog / Re: Prog 1817

Think it took about 18 seconds to read Red Seas this week. Loved Dredd, thought it was a lovely, well written little tale. Dowling's art is very easy on the eye too. The furore surrounding this story has grated a little personally, but I appreciate that any publicity is good publicity. Like others, feel strangely detached from Strontium Dog. Indifferent to Savage and, I'm afraid to say, Ampney at the moment.
