Splendid writer, abso-feckin-lutely bizarre webite.

This monkey has no hat. Very shocked and disappointed.

Anyone see it tonight? I Missed it but one of the chosen subjects was boys comics. Dunno what that entailed but surely there was a question or two about Tharg's illustrious organ?

Great being here at an off-peak time!

Guess everyone else is out (excepting pvs who just posted)

I may yet go out agin, to see some local bands. Here's a tip from the lobster. If you see a band called 28 playing, go see them. Bloody fantastic! Dunno if they'll get out of the north east anytime soon, but still, you heard it here!

Greetings all, as I've now changed identity, I can also reveal that I shall soon no longer be only of the crowd that posts through the day (umm, sparingly, at umm work). I have procured an underwater PC and shall soon be fitted with an undersea connection right here in my shell.

He he, late night drunken posts here we come!

Suggestions / Nikolai Dante film
18 August, 2003, 11:18:41 PM
Please Tharg/Rebellion, can we have a Nikolai Dante film with Johnny Depp as the man himself. He'd be great! The film would be great! Go on, go on, go on.

Oh, and Uma Thurman as Jena Makarov. Maybe.

Who's with me? Just saw Pirates and Depp grins more than usual, in fact once would be more than usual but he'd look the part I'm sure.

General / Staz does Spidey
07 August, 2003, 08:07:10 PM
Wakefield Today in the U.K. reports that "2000AD" artist Stewart 'Staz' Johnson, is working on a comic book version of "Spider-Man 2." Presumably this will be the comic adaptation of the movie.

Been moonlighting Wake? Can't tell what Wakefield today is exactly as it's trying to load as I write this.

General / Deathwatch
30 July, 2003, 07:59:06 PM
The movie. Seen it? Kind of on a par with 28 days later and Dog Soldiers, in that British new wave of horror films kinda way. I'm sure someone's mentioned it somewhere else but it wasn't extrensive so I'll just point out the reason why this isn't off-topic:

BIO-WIRE!!!! Marvellous scene, it coulda been Nu-Earth!

Just makes you wish it wa Fiends of the Eastern Front, or Glimmer Rats, but worth a watch for the wire at least.

You've all seen these but there's a new story on the new scripts at CBR

Imagine my horror when at the bottom of the article I read...

Thanks to Dredd head Scojo for the lead!

Dear oh dear.

Anyway, read the Death one I reckon it actually sounds pretty damn good. A hell of a lot better than the last one, and at least Anderson's not pregnant!!

Off Topic / Monkey in a hat, The Movie
18 April, 2003, 06:10:08 PM
Seeing as there seems to be a growing liking for monkeys in hats on this board (You know who you are!), I thought I'd share this with you.

I got a movie clip the other day. It's a joke, not a very good joke, but the difference is, the actors are monkeys. Well, they're not, technically, as anyone from the Plabet of the APes would slap me for, they're chimpanzees, but I digress. The main point is, the one telling the joke has a HAT!!! And it's one of those old gangster hats (A trilby?) that ISN'T on the poll list.

Anyway, the one with the hat is hilarious. If anyone wants it, send me a note and I'll e-mail it to you (1.4 Mb). Or alternatively Wake, you could post it on the site? It's loosely related to Don Uggi, honestly, looks a bit like him, and could well be the same hat that he wears!!!

As the original boarder said, "You know it makes sense"

Off Topic / Yo Adrian!
09 April, 2003, 10:47:38 PM
Had a meeting with the neighbours the other night and there were a load of old postcards in the cellar, that had been kept since the 40's from an old hairdressers downstairs in my building.

Anyway, quite a few of them are those old 'cheeky' postcards you used to get (and still do no doubt), some fairly dodgy for the time I'm sure. Not the funniest things in the world, but on the front of them is written "Bamforth comics", which amused me greatly. Any relation Adrian? They're all postmarked in the 40's/early 50's.

Off Topic / The Misfits, Black Flag, The Ramones
08 April, 2003, 06:36:45 PM
Must be a few fans of them here. Or any Metallica fan will have heard at least 2 of their songs (Last Caress/Green Hell).

Anyway, there's a tour coming up next month with Jerry Only of The Misfits, Dez from Black Flag and Marky Ramone. Doing Misfits number past and present, plus a few Black Flag and Ramones classics.

Check Tour Dates for the UK leg of the M25 tour. Nothing to do with the motorway :o)

Overjoyed at them coming to Aberdeen!!!

Suggestions / Wallpaper challenge
21 March, 2003, 07:14:37 PM
Any of you talented bunch out there fancy putting a wallpaper together, specifically the scene at the end of Luna Wars I think it was called. You know, the Dredd episode on Luna City, drawn by B.Bolland, when 4 judges fight 4 sov judges as an alternative to a real war. It's in the first Dredd Titan book, which has been reprinted heaps. All Bolland stuff.

I'm thinking it very appropriate right now. The part where Dredd screams at the TV audience "War is wrong, war is evil, WAR IS HELL!". There's a classic look on the face of the people watching the war "entertainment", as many of us are now, no doubt.

OR, choose a different anti-war tooth pic. There's plenty of them I'll bet.

Peace!

General / Prog 1335 - Nae spoilers :o)
10 March, 2003, 11:42:01 PM
Dear Tharg, will us subscribers be getting both versions of 1335?

On that subject, does anyone have both versions of 'that prog' from a while ago. There was a Devlin Waugh cover and a Mazeworld? cover. At least they're letting us know this time :o)
