First #2 review lands

Hope this is OK here. Mine's still in the post from Disposable Heroes.

From that it looks like the robots revolt is ongoing...
DDT did a job on me

Forum etiquette is to actually start the thread when you have read the issue!

So is this actually out? Couldn't see it on comixology earlier.

I'm popping down my comic shop in half an hour, so I'll find out then!

Richmond Clements

Yeah my comic shop sent me an e-mail yesterday saying

QuoteDue to an error at the distributors, all of the DC Comics, most of the indie & Marvel titles will be delayed until tomorrow afternoon.

So may well be on the way later today?

I've got mine. I'm pretty disappointed with it, have to say. There's something not right with the storytelling. It's almost like the story has little to no bearing from last month's. Jumping all over the place. Just goes in a completely different tack. Anderson has no reason to be in it, other than a token novelty to introduce her as quickly as possible. It's like the writer's just trying to introduce as many concepts and story threads as he can into what's a pretty bare bones story to begin with. I really feel like IDW thinks they have some duty to try and incorporate elements from the Stallone movie into this version of Dredd. When other Judges are calling Dredd "Joe" like they're all good buddies, something's not right. Artwork has deteriorated a little from last month's too. Maybe a little rushed.

McCarthy's story is a little better. His artwork's great, of course, and the story's a little more in keeping with something we might see in 2000AD or The Meg. Frankly, I'd rather see one story being spread over the 22 pages than two separate tales, especially when the A strip's so poor. Can't see myself sticking with this based on what I've read so far. It's really not a terribly interesting take on Dredd.
"...and it was here in this blighted place, he learned to live again."

Yeah, just finished reading it and I have to agree.
The other judge calling Dredd 'Joe' was jarring. And there were quite a few moments in the story that made me think 'wha-?' (Can't spolier tag on the phone so I won't list them)
Back-up strip was... Okay, but the twist was amazingly unoriginal. Do they think we don't watch sci-fi movies..?

Didnt know this was due, let alone out. Ive not been counting the days since #1. Will no doubt order it if they have any left after xmas when the post gets bck to normal. If i miss the boat, i very much doubt i'll be worrying too much, as i thought the first one was bloody awful.

The McCarthy story was like the 1990s Dredds all over again - landfill script elevated by artwork that deserved better.  The first strip doesn't have much going for it, either, but I will fly in the face of convention and say that at least the artist draws Anderson with huge tits and porn model body.  I don't like it when she looks like a human being in the Meg stories, it confuses my expectations of how women are portrayed in comics and makes me set an unreasonable bar for American titles.  This strip drags me back down to the gutter and the only was is up from there.  Nice one.

Plenty of positive reviews coming in for the series; no idea if that is equating to decent sales. Anyone notice there's two 2000AD themed comics coming in Free Comic Bookday 2013? More Dredd heading state-side.

Glad it's getting good reviews at least.
