Mark Miller MBE? Why not Sir Pat Mills, Sir John Wagner - or Sir Alan Moore?

So bit late to the news but Mark Miller was given an MBE for services to the industry.
There are so many creators of 2000AD that deserve it more
What about Pat Mills, John Wagner or Alan Moore? Well Alan would probably turn it down.

How do we get this started.

"Why create a zombie saga set in the 17th century?

The dark, sinister period lends itself so well to zombies. It's a truly fascinating era and the birth of modern science and capitalism, which is great fun to explore. It's also the last time the British people tried and failed to get rid of their corrupt royal family."

It's a brave monarch that'd try to enoble the Magus - he won't even let people pay him royalties, never mind kneel to them.

He'd possibly accept if the ceremony was held in his local, and Her Maj showed up in the buff painted in sigils and carrying the long-lost wand of John Dee.

And as for Pat... It'd make giving an OBE to Lowry look like playing pin the tail on the donkey.

Maybe its because if you keep telling everyone how amazing you are some start to believe it.

Red Son was quite enjoyable though I'll give him that.
Hmm, just pretend I wrote something witty eh?

Anti-establishment rebel Grant Morrison also has an MBE.  So, yes, I can imagine Pat Mills accepting one.

(Grant got his first.  Any speculation that Mark got his after furiously lobbying his connections in the Scottish Government for a nomination in order to keep up with his one-time mentor are, of course, completely ridiculous.)

Didn't Fred Goodwin get a knighthood for services to the (b)anking industry?

Just to put this in context.

If he has connections, they're probably with Labour, rather than the SNP.

Heh.  He's a long way away from the punk scene he so memorably didn't epitomise when he started in comics.

Pat Mills has publicly said that he would never accept any honour from the Queen as he is a strong republican

As for the rest you can apply to nominate them on the Gov.uk site

He's prone to changing his mind on that front.

I always laugh to see GM referred to as anti-establishment despite his big contribution to 2000ad being a superhero story (which he gets super-touchy about people suggesting is a lengthy recycling of Alan Moore's Captain Britain).
