Creative Common / 2000AD Homebrew
« on: 21 January, 2018, 07:51:47 PM »
As a keen homebrewer I decided it was time to create my own 2000AD recipe.
I thought it should be called Mac Mac after the brew that has featured in the comic many times.

What makes my brew Mac Mac? It has two additions each of Magnum, Amarillo and Cascade hops so the initials of those hops spell Mac Mac.

It’s a 7.3% Betelgeusian IPA.

Six bottles will be given away at the next Southern Contingent gathering via a raffle.

General / Take Thrill-Power To Work Day - March 28th
« on: 07 March, 2014, 04:10:19 PM »
Today was Take Your Action Figure To Work Day.

I only found out about it this morning from a post on Facebook.
The Idea is to take an action figure to work and post at least five pictures of it on Twitter and Facebook with the hashtag #actionfigureworkday.

I thought it was fun so I took some photos of my Johnny Alpha figure and uploaded them.
Some fellow squaxx "liked" them on Facebook and Trout Trousers suggested we do something similar.

How about on March 28th we take a thrill-powered item to work, it could be a figure, a Prog, a Meg, anything you have that is 2000AD related, and we post pictures of them on Twitter or Facebook and on this thread.

General / Cliff Robinson does Judge Minty
« on: 13 March, 2013, 02:08:51 PM »
Well, as it is now on the Bleeding Cool website (http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/03/13/cliff-robinsons-judge-minty-commission/) I can share this here.

This is my commission from the great Cliff Robinson of some of the characters from the Judge Minty fan film.
As I am involved in Minty (that's me, bottom right), I thought a commission would be a great way of marking my involvement in the film. So, I contacted the commission king himself and here it is. Cliff was a pleasure to deal with and I'm sure you will all agree he has created something rather special here.

In this clip Batman says "I am the law!" I guess he picked that phrase up when he met Dredd.

I used to love playing this on the Spectrum. Now there is going to be a Kickstarter project to bring it back for the PC and possibly other platforms.

Help! / Photobucket problem
« on: 27 April, 2012, 07:39:44 PM »
Does anyone know why images linked from a Photobucket account sometimes appear as a negative image?
It's happened to me a couple of times now.
Is it possible to fix it?

Is that Slaine on the left having a drink in a tavern in issue 11 of Conan - Road of kings?

General / Judge Anderson on BBC South Today

Last night on BBC South Today there was a piece on a guy from Brighton who is in the Air Guitar Championship.
Look at the big picture on the wall above his guitars.

General / Dredd on Radio 2
« on: 18 December, 2010, 01:10:19 PM »
While driving last night I turned the radio on and Radio 2's Friday Night is Music Night show was "in celebration of masked men on screen, stage and in classical scores."

Just after I had switched on, they had a 15 minute piece on comic characters with interviews featuring Alan Grant and Dave Gibbons.
Alan Grant said the best person to play Dredd in a film would be Bruce Forsyth!

Check it out here....

I think it was about an hour in to the show. I turned on just before the Batman Suite was played.

I've never listened to this show before and probably never will again but it was a nice coincidence finding this on as I drove home from visiting a friend.

Help! / Messenger problems.
« on: 21 April, 2009, 03:41:10 PM »
I use Messenger a lot and have no problems with it but a friend of mine is having huge problems with it and we can't seem to find a solution.

He can log on OK and send emoticons and his webcam works fine but if he types a message and tries to send it he gets logged out.

He's useing Windows XP and the latest version of Messenger.
I've got him to look at firewall settings, anti-virus software etc... and hunted around on the net but found no solution.

Can anyone here help please?

General / Megazine - American Issues
« on: 14 October, 2007, 03:16:33 PM »
I've just got Volume 1 of The Megazine down from my loft and issue 3 is in the smaller American format with a harder card cover.

I had forgotten that I even had this.
All the other issues are the regular UK ones so I guess for some reason my newagent didn't get issue 3 and I went to a comic shop to get it later but could only get the U.S. version.

Does anyone here know how long the Meg was published in the U.S. for in this format?

General / Space Ferret
« on: 14 February, 2007, 06:50:35 PM »
On todays Danny Baker show on Radio London one of his topics was "Free Stuff".

One listener who called in claimed to have got a Space Ferret free with 2000AD some years ago.

The Space Ferret was in fact one of those furry worm things on an "invisible" string that you pull through your fingers, along the floor etc so it looks alive.

Having read 2000AD for 29 years I've never heard of this free gift so I'm pretty sure it wasn't given away with 2000AD.

But, if it was given away with a comic, what comic was it from?
