Chopper would send Dredd off into a mission of self discovery. You could say because Chopper is subversive and in some ways Dredd is an anti-hero, Dredd needs to examine the space that he's in. He needs to take a long hard look at the city and himself and Chopper could be the catalyst for that and that would lead you into an Origins-connected story...."
I don't even have the words to say how much I want that. Yearn! SO happy just having this Dredd film, but if a sequel doesn't happen, it's going to be heartbreaking.

[spoiler]Well Alex spoke about his history as a fan of 2000ad and British comics, and that he was never much into Batman and Superman. He talks about meeting Wagner who was a help in that if he didn't like something he would let them know and would not bullshit. Also the collaborative nature of the films that he is involved in making , and the way that it differs with 'director led' auteur projects.
He goes into the editing process and how the script was so lean and focussed that they had very little extra footage to cut out so they had to inventively reconstruct scenes with bits of other scenes to make them work .e.g. the sex scene in the Anderson / Kay psi battle. He also mentions that he is perhaps not the right guy to be involved in using the out and out comedy characters like Maria and Walter if they did sequels.
He says that the only thing that was really effected by the low budget that he would have liked to change were the present day vehicles. But it came down to a choice between the slomo and replacing the cars, so he chose slomo.
