General / New Subscription Prog Bag - Recyclable?
02 March, 2019, 12:09:04 PM
The plastic bag that the subscription prog came in this morning is different..

It's not as shiny and feels more 'organic'.

Can this go in the recycling bin...anyone know?

I've just put a couple of classic pages up on Ebay. And a couple of prints.

Don't have room to hang them, so thought I'd free them from their portfolio case.

Hope the link works...

I have just put a few Dredd pages up for sale on CAF:

There's two by Chris Weston - the Sensitive Klegg cover prelim and a finished page from that story.

Two pencil prelim covers by Greg Staples.

A full colour page by Nick Percival from the Jonni Kiss storyline - with Dredd head-butting him.

If anyone's interested send me a PM over on CAF or on here.

Brand New Un-Opened 3A Dredd and Lawmaster Set for Sale £200 (inc. P&P)

I changed address a few times whilst waiting for these to come out. I wasn't sure 3A would follow the address changes I sent them, so I panicked and ordered one from Big Bad Toys in the US to make sure I got one.

As it turns out, the one from 3A turned up a while ago from China with no probs at all and no customs fee or tax to pay.

I've just 'released' the one from BBT for delivery on Monday by paying a ransom (tax&fees) of £45 to Parcelforce!

I've been told in no uncertain terms that one of these in the house is bad enough, but two is not happening, so, if someone on here would like it for the price above please PM me.  It's around what I'll have paid for it all in all.

I'm on Paypal (probably easiest)  I'd leave it in it's existing outer-packaging (take off my address etc) and send it recorded delivery to any buyer sometime next week. Cheers.

That's a Bolland cover on prog 1986, unless I'm very much mistaken!  Shown as a teaser for the Dredd Reclamation story on this weeks Thrill Mail.

That is absolutely one of the best Bolland Dredd images I've seen for years.

Don't know quite what it is.. to me, his art has looked rather bland since he went over to digital.  There's just something about this image though, that makes it look more like his art of old...

Love it!

General / Employment Opportunities in MC1
24 March, 2016, 11:56:22 PM
Something I've been wondering about for a while...apologies if this has been raised elsewhere on the forum.

One of the defining characteristics of MC1 has always been the tiny proportion of citizens who worked. Pre-Apocalypse war there were 800 million and whilst MC1 was crime ridden, in terms of services, industry etc it was all well set up with no need for the people to get involved - a miniscule proportion needed, or had the opportunity, to work - hence job riots and all the bizzare hobbies and habits and other crazy stuff.

With only 70 million citizens, wide spread destruction and the wide spread break-down of infrastructure wouldn't many more people have to work? Or have the opportunity to work?

Just wondering...as an actively involved, working citizenry would be a very different bunch to the Mega cits of old and would change the character of the city.

As I say, don't know if this has been raised elsewhere but I can't think of any stories that have gone into this (maybe changing employment patterns in MC1 just isn't why people read Dredd..who knows..)

Classifieds / Wanted Strontium Dog Vols 1-4
28 October, 2015, 02:40:48 PM
You can get these on Amazon/Ebay for just over a tenner each with the postage but I thought I'd just check to see if anyone on here had the four that they'd be willing to sell off cheaply.  Perhaps due to our constant enemy... lack of space.

Classifieds / Wanted 'The Complete Concrete' TP
14 October, 2015, 08:06:53 PM
Not a 2000ad comic I know, so sorry if this isn't allowed..
(although I'd hope the sheer quality of the comic in question would allow it to remain)

Does anyone have a copy of 'The Complete Concrete' in good condition that they'd be happy to sell at a reasonable price?

It's the softcover TP that collects the complete original 10 issue series.

General / Bearded Dredd!
10 September, 2015, 12:25:35 PM
I've been reading the latest Complete Case Files 25, which contains stories I've not read before. I was on a long break from 2000ad during this period. I've been pleasantly surprised by some of them and 'Death of a Legend' was very moving.

Anyway, there's a one-part story called 'Question of Sport' where Dredd clearly has a beard!  Not general stubble growth which is quite common for him, he's old, grizzled and very busy, but some sort of deliberate hipster type beard. What is that all about?

This is probably very old news to most of you, but was this commented on at the time?

I may be wrong but I can't think of any other Dredd story where he's on routine patrol and he's got a beard..

A limited edition (signed?) print of this cover would go down very nicely indeed!

Can Tharg make this happen..?

Welcome to the board / London Calling!
12 February, 2015, 12:08:32 PM
Hi all,

Not actually a particular fan of the Clash, just happen to be from London.  I've been lurking for a while now but having seen a lot of interesting posts recently I thought I'd actually join.  I especially wanted to vote in the cover of the year poll.

I'm a big fan of early 80s classic 2000ad and the artwork.  I only actually started full-time with the prog when Chopper was heading to Oz but gradually read and collected back to prog 1. After a pretty long break from 2000ad starting in the late 90s to a few years ago, I'm back with a dual subscription and intend to keep it that way.  (I'm rather less impressed with Hachette's efforts, still waiting for my volumes 2 & 3 and free gifts!)

Having bought a couple of 2000ad pages in the late 80s, my interest in the original artwork has also recently returned with a disturbing intensity...
