War Machine probably won Friday a lot of votes across the rounds, but with it the thrill drags a lot of baggage so it with some small relief that its march through the tourney is over. Storming Warning will have to win over tougher ties to go much further but for now

Storm Warning

isn't giving up the ghost on it chances in Round 4.

As last night taught me you don't always get the result you want. I did here, by quite some margin... errr .... sooo...

Survival Geeks

will be setting up house in Round 4.

Are we including the initial Abelard Snazz story as a Robo-Tale (which I think it was when first published)?

Sorry I missed this. This was a question I'm glad I wasn't asked for the Abelard Snazz as the answer there would have been complex. Here its easy. yers those stories count as they came under the series Robo-Tales and so are paert of your vote.

Late in the day I know but there we go and doubt it would have effected the result.

Tomorrow, tomorrow
You can vote til tomorrow
so few votes here up to today.

Tomorrow, tomorrow
You can vote til tomorrow
Survival Geeks seems here to stay...

Well this one wasn't a shut and and Glimmer Rats got a lot of praise but the result was always clear and

D.R. and Quinch

can now shape Round 4 into an intergalactic swear word...

... ouch that one was bad even by my standards!

We're not going to get many of these anymore as the competition gets harder and harder but Jaegir just stormed this one and got the first (and possibly only?) shut out of Round 3. Poor Rose O'Rion was simply blown away and

didn't need to clone votes to get to Round 4.

A childhood in the 70s was never that much fun! And especially Space Hoppers!

Why no Hershey volume?
I assume the new ones written by Rob Williams are good too...

They really are, but manage to stir up a hornets nest of controversy.

Glimmer Rats is making a stand, but fittingly it appears to be a last stand. Last chance to get that ammo andf reserves to them today before they face their final hour.

Well there's a day to go, but not much competition left here, unsurprisingly. Last day votes won't affect things but will still celebrate things, so get um in.

Well you can't say I didn't give Mike Carroll and JTPegg every chance...

...Its testament to their thrill that Proteus Vex a relatively new thrill has even challenged the almost perfect 2000ad story. I was really said to see this draw, but its good to get used to these super hard decisions. Its also good to see so much love for the eventual 'loser' and both thrills getting the praise they deserve. There is little denying though that

Will be slicing it up in Round 4.

Rogue Trooper isn't setting this tourney on fire the way I was expecting. I get that as I've never liked the series, art aside, but thought I was very much in the minority. Now I'll not get carried away its beaten a well loved series of one off here, one that produced some of the all time greats and it won well. But not with a clear confidence. Time Twisters really does have some beauties but as ever with the one-off series consistancy is the issue. Both Future Shocks and Time Twisters have gone is there much hope for the rest now? We'll see but we can say

Rogue Trooper

Is Gunnar be in Round 4.

Is this Tom King's Mister Miracle?  Been a while since I read that one.  I think I took it more at face value that it's about Scott need to escape from developing to his need to escape to.  I dunno, I don't remember much of the story, but I do remember having a blast reading it.

Yeah the Tom King one.

I finished reading Tom's Mister Miracle (for the 4th time or something) this morning. Brilliant book. Each time I finish it I come up with new ideas about the ending :)

So my take is....

Scott Free is trying to escape the super-hero comic reboot/relaunch cycle. His life won’t progress because our reality demands the status quo. He tries to kill himself, the comic won’t let the title character die So he forces the issue, killing off other characters, having a baby. And story keeps trying to rerail him back to a status quo. In the end he manages to break the cycle by burning nearly everything down, but even that is only as temporary as the end of the last page.

That’s my interpretation at least.

That's a cool one!

Mine (my latest) is a bit similar. Scott is having trouble thanks to letting his real life getting "invaded" by comic stuff, or if it's a comic which is "invaded" by reality. Scott is sure he can escape, which he "does" with the "Mister Miracle won't be continued".

I also really like the He's stuck in hell or heaven, but choose to stay hinted in the last issue by Bug and Orion :)

Just finished this and I breezed through it. Its an easy 'read' but I defo need to go back and read it again to get more out of it. I go with Apestrife pretty much. By killing himself in the 'superhero' world at the being Scott (and Barda) escape the comics world (the art changing straight after that comic book continuity recap.). He does, he escape a comic book death by going into a 'real' world of change and growth and struggle and pain. Real life is Heaven and Hell. It really is. The antilife equation is all around us, but we carry on. He is offered countless chances to escape back into the comic world, specifically emphasised by the chance to repeat Highfather's pact in that classic story. The chance to repeat the same story again and again. He chooses not to and Highfather specifically tells him he fails.

So he's condemned to a 'real life' and in that the death of closing his eyes Jacob sees when he counts the four worlds.

Its brilliant... or it could be. I need to read it again taking that meaning with me to see if its there... I have a long history of getting this type of thing wrong!
