Prog / Prog 2283 - Scare in the community
« on: 21 May, 2022, 06:14:51 PM »
Nice punny tagline.

Good Prog behind it.

Dredd as you were nicely cranking tension, typically superb Niemand interactions between character and a place fantastic story. I'm not sure I've actually declared this but Niemand is now clearly the best none Wagner Dredd writer we have and have had.

Brink Speaking of the best this is just that. Another quite brilliant episode. Who is following Maslow?

Hope more innovation and imagination with the way this story is presented and its a damned good story too, so - fantastic!

Dexter - the only real misstep this week. This has been a fantastic story and then this week fight and over. I assume something is being set up with the moths - I guess the final weapon to defeat the AI (I'm normally wrong about these things!) - but for this story I wanted more than the energetic slam, bam over ending.

Fiends origins and emergances - brilliant fun.

So yeah a bit of a step back from last week, mainly due to Dexter, which bad, just not the high standard I'd set for it!

so happy that i cherry picked the returners - which has just arrived.

Very tempted by this. I loved the first Returners but drifted a little in the following two books, though was was always enough there to entertain and make me really want to re-read it. BUT getting the Meg Digitally its not as present to make me do that as readily do a nice hardcopy could well and tryly sort that!

Well wow that sounds... well terrible and yet I still really want to see it!

Sometimes these votes feel unfair but then again it makes it more interesting to have heavy weight fight it out while the lesser thrills go trough to the next round

Yeah the pot luck factor just adds a bit of variety and excitment in my mind and allows each Round to have some big hitting ties (in theory at least). While this one might contain the two 'biggest' thrills there are some really big hitter facing off still to come AND one tie right towards the end that I think is even more interesting than this one.

Next Round is going to be crazy!

Again on the meg side another floppy that contains a series that is not yet older than 2 years: Feral & Foe. I am little disappointed in the overrings after the Hawkness

Also wow! Feral and foe reduced to the floppie! You'd have thought it deserved better than that!

Was not expecting this one to go like this. The winner looks pretty clear and its very different to what I was expecting and by a margin that surprises me even more! Day to go and I'll close the week off in the morning.

22
While there's little doubt which way this one will go, what there is a day remaining to vote. So pop um in and I'll count um up tomorrow morning.

VOTING CLOSED

Well before we get into it - well done folks this one has been the biggest vote yet, which is hardly a surprise given the contenders.

Both those contenders are simply magnificent thrills. Both could have gone a lot further I suspect, well one still might of course. Buttonman is a magnificent thriller, truly astonishing and has some beautiful, brutal, gritty art. Zenith is more on all levels however and on that basis

Zenith

has taken more than a finger and has jump the Briggs-Rosen* Bridge into Round 4

*I don't think this is right but I can't remember what they were called and I'm too lazy to go to the nerd cave this morning!

VOTING CLOSED

Not even close and i find that a bit weird... or maybe not. I mean I would have voted this way, Leviathan is a superb thrill, it looks astonishing and in a few episode builds a complete world, introduces wonderful characters and crafts a magnificent story involving them. Its deserves to go far. But Tyranny Rex is a wonderful thrill. It does chop and change but that's a great thing showing how great the character is as a vehicle for story. In Deus ex Machina it has a pinicle of a truly great story - all be it affected by art changes. It does lack a solid ending and its a shame the final John Smith story didn't really work. So it didn't get the love I was expecting and

Leviathon

goes full steam ahead into Round 4.

Loving both those covers! With both Lawless and Brink finishing in August Tharg is going to have quite the job on his hands to make September no feel like a slump!

A time of infinite Punisher analogues!

27
Colin the problem is that somehow somebody reverted the votes from the alternative reality where all answers are Zenith although they voted for Button Man. So you have to reverse count them Zenith=Button Man and button Man=Button Man

Yeah but when I do that I'll release I'm trapped in a bubble universe bound in a prism constituted of endless tournaments. When I see the black sun that is the eye of the Elder Gods stirring into that infinite prison I'll realise I've been manipulated and tripped and I should have kept the vote the same...

28
The tension on this one is killing me. I want to do a count, but from a quick (well ish I was a little more studied in my flick through the votes) the vote appears to be going only one way. Its close but I think the current leader might be too far ahead to catch with final day votes (?). Get um in and I'll count them up in the morning.

29
Thought this one would be closer... but its not. We'll come to more on that tomorrow morning when I announce the result. Until then vote, vote, vote away.

VOTING CLOSED

The Dead is kickin' ass in this tournement. Its not had easy draws and its more than holding its own. I'm a little surprised Lobster Random didn't make this closer. Its a thrill I adore and was certianly bold and different. Folks have spoken however and the weird vibes of

The Dead

have out bizarred Lobster and will see it stepping into the other side of Round 4.
