Dont get me wrong... Im not "pro" this idea. I dont actually think it needs a sequel.
But the amount of people literally saying "This will be shit" or "This will fail creatively" before page one has even been written is just wrong.

Have to agree with this. There's nothing about tapping into the world and the characters that Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons created thats wrong. Sure doing a direct sequel has little merit for me but then that's not to say even that won't work well if the right person with the right idea gave it a try.

I'm always curious why Alan Moore's fans getsso up tight about the prospect of DC using his characters (and I've no idea if he cares either way in this specific case) given the success he has made using other people creations (not a criticism just an observation).

That's interesting 'cos the other day someone (and for the life of me I can't remember where I read this) was bemoaning how little publishers make of Amazon as much like the supermarkets they can force people to place massive discounts on their books or threaten not to supply them.

Interesting to here the other side.

Also Sam, Hoagy, and Stogie are three great, charming characters, who even when the stories go a little off track always keep things afloat.

Yeah saw that last night. It'll take a very bold creative team (assuming Dave Gibbons isn't interested which seems a safe bet) to take this on. That said I suspect there's ego enough out there to get it done.

Its always been a credit to Paul Levitz that for all the falling out etc he had with Moore he respected his magnus opus this way. Didn't take long after him leaving for that to change did it! Still no point judging things until anything is confirmed and we can see the quality of anything produced. Mind however good it was there'd be some folk up in arms I'd guess.

So does Matt Smith follow this led and commission Halo Jones Book IV... nahhhhh

I curious as to why they didn't use existing art. While they are officially Mongoose Publications they bare Rebellions logo on the cover and are down at Amazon.co.uk as being published by Rebellion so you'd thing it would have been cheaper to use existing material? I certainly don't claim to know all the in's an outs of this type of thing but having seen a little of the art used it does strike me as strange?

Strangely, there's no list of contents, nor an index; perhaps that's what the 13th volume will be for.

Damnit this chills my librarian heart.

The more I see and hear about this the more, alas, I think I'll give it a miss.

Tell you what, what about that flame huh. Don't get me wrong Judge Death is brillant and all but what struck me most was the way the flame on that torch fair dances in the moonlight. Superb.

Yeah he comes across as a really nice guy. He'll always have my absolute respect not just for the brillant work he did but his refusal to expliot it as he so easily could. He draw a comic strip and that's how he lets it stand. So few like that in this day an age.

Well blow me down, with thanks to 'The Beat' here's a link to Calvin and Hobbes' Bill Watterson's first interview in 20 years.

http://www.cleveland.com/living/index.ssf/2010/02/bill_watterson_creator_of_belo.html

It might be short, its kinda sweet, but who'd have thought it was coming huh!. What with the Calvin and Hobbes stamp in the US and now this maybe Mr Watterson is coming out of his shell a little?

The Calvin and Hobbes books are my current tiolet reading up to Snow Goons and have to say it ain't lost a bit of its brillance over the years.
