Rately

Turandot, by Pavarotti.

Always reminds me of the Summer when my brother was born, the first World Cup I can remember and being young, with not a worry in the world.

Every time I hear it, as well as being an absolutely beautiful, emotional and powerful piece of music, I am drawn back to that summer and have so many memories and associations that well up in me when the music starts.

Music is 'effin awesome!

I cannot believe people are actually listening to Die Antwoord (the answer).
When I die, I want to die like my grandfather who died peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in his car.

Old age is the Lord's way of telling us to step aside for something new. Death's in case we didn't take the hint.

This is probably the best place to put this:
Finally found the background music for the porno scene in An American Werewolf in London...

Used to enjoy listening to this EP back in the day, and trying to do some semblance of Cossack dancing along with it: The Wedding Present-The Complete Ukrainian John Peel Sessions

Try it!

Definitely Not Mister Pops

The Hu are the band that makes Klingon Opera look like hipster nonsense.
You may quote me on that.

155 million views on that video.

I quite liked Max Normal (their previous band) but with Die Antwoord I feel like it was a joke that somehow became a whole career.  Yolandi gets far too much time on the mic too.  I hate her voice.  And his rapping style used to be a lot better and more creative.

This morning I'm listening to Lord Vigo's Danse De Noir. It's hard to categorise but it's sort of prog-doom, whilst also being a concept album about Blade Runner which surely makes it worth a listen for anyone.
Bit of a slow burner but totally addictive once you're into it.

RocketMother

Having a bit of a binge on both Alice and John Coltrane right now. Also original line-up Sabbath (up to Technical Ecstasy) is getting a lot of air time here.

Trying to get the album just put out by the Dalai Lama but I refuse to shop with Amazon and none of my usual places have it in stock right now :(

(yes cds are still a thing in this household)
