Vast tracts of post Horned God Sláine.  The fact that his past was changed, to the point of forgetting who Ukko was, then it suddenly back to normal again, for example.

And that the ABC Warriors suddenly went back to 22nd (?) century Mars from Nemesis' far future, seemingly without the use of time travel.

Help! / Modem advice
07 January, 2013, 12:45:45 AM
Not much of a techie type myself so I'll just ask you folks - I'm looking for something that plugs into my netbook and acts as a portable wi-fi hotspot, which can be used abroad too.  I teach by Skype these days and quite fancy the idea of being able to travel around and do it.  It needs to have a fairly fast download / upload speed to overcome any Skype communication problems.
However, I have absolutely no idea what to look for.  Global portable modem? Satellite modem?  Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

QuoteA, there's no incentive to stick to petty crime - if you're going to get just as severe a sentence for shoplifting a Mars bar as you are for robbing a bank, might as well go ahead and rob that bank - and B, it makes the criminals more desperate to escape being caught, and hence more likely to escalate to violence and murder when the authorities try to stop them.

I'm not especially well informed about it  , but I was under the impression that Giuliani's zero-tolerance policy largely cleaned up downtown NY. I am prepared to be corrected though.

As for why the judges' policies don't prevent crime, my guess is that the sheer number of people means that many get away with it, just not as many as would without the justice dept.

Halo's mate Toy was
a lesbian
.  Seems so obvious now.  Did I mention this before?

Im very much on the "Big Dave was brilliant" side- it was by a cunty mile the best thing in the prog at the time, and the best thing that had been in the prog- barring Slaine- for ages....
There's certainly a feeling of the cutting edge about Big Dave, of the cultural zeitgeist being inexpertly surfed. Certainly, it's the last time the comic was 'dangerous'- in the sense that it could genuinely upset parents of the target audience, who were still largely buying the thing for them. That's not the case now, and very sadly 2000AD is an adult comic (with all that (cont)

Seconded, though I haven't seen the continuation of your post.  And I don't mind 2000ad being an adult comic; but that's been covered at length in other threads.
But yeah, Dave had cock-shaped guns, soldiers transformed into gays, the slaughter of the Royal Family and Dave shagging Diana.  It was rough, ready, offensive and good fun; like the Pistols before it and Brass Eye after it.  Was there a story about Dave's bird once?  Seem to remember it in a special of some description, featuring the very-uncommon-for-comics sight of a girl on the toilet.

Quotei'm fucking glad they have nothing to do with 2000AD now.

Though that would have been going a bit far (and personally I believe GM only made it up later as an excuse to wind people up), I'd love to see Grant Morrison back in the prog.  He was, as I said earlier, a bit of a wanker back then, but he seems a far more pleasant bloke these days.  And, as far as I'm concerned, one of the best in the business.  It kills me not to know what Zenith is doing these days, it really does.

Not sure about Millar though, haven't read any of his non-2000ad stuff apart from Kickass which was ok, and Superman Red Son which wasn't bad either.  Seems a bit of a gimp though.

Big Dave was a strip that got my non-comics-reading mates into 2000ad, which is a good thing.  Also interesting to see him uncensored in that link earlier in the prog - Odd to think the whole series passed without a single swearword when the Dave was clearly a foul-mouthed yob.  As I said, I liked Big Dave; It wasn't the usual 2000ad strip by any means but it captured the spirit of anarchy and satire perfectly.

He was a bit of an ageist, narcissistic gobshite in those days; though i was a big fan of most of his comics stuff.  I thoroughly enjoyed Big Dave, and would happily buy a collected version.  I even liked Really and Truly.

Byrne argues... with himself.

Priceless.

Is this for real?  The man gets more clownish by the day.  I think the poor man thinks about Watchmen more than Alan Moore does.
It's the season of good will though, so I'll point out how the chap has begun to show a bit of modesty and humility, including himself in the non-original writer category he puts Alan Moore and Grant Morrison in.

Hope Ron liked the Shark's 'Thanks Ron' project. Nice to get the chance to give something back to him.
Anyway, questions to Ron:

Do you still read 2000ad?
How would you describe Mega City 1 in a few words?
Nobody drew the average MegaCitizen like you, but are there any other Dredd artists you admire?
