Robo Hunter slowly became a 'CBA' strip as time went on.  The Millar stuff ..... well, I think that one has been done to death elsewhere.  But at the risk of being supremely castigated the one that I have never warmed to is Slaine, particularly with Langley on art duties.  Don't get me wrong, I think he is a fantastic artist but I find the artwork so dense that it detracts from the story.

I have ordered on off DH above, cheers for the link!

Any sign of it?  I ordered too and still waiting.  Tried emailing a few times to see if it was in the post but all gone quiet. :(

QuoteI can only hope the Survivalist omnibus that's currently in the post is half as good.

Oh my word,  not Jerry Ahern's Survivalist?  I remember reading that as a teenager at Butlins Pwhelli.  Even at the tender age of **teen it was brain candy of the highest order.  Seen it kicking about once or twice in second hand bookshops and been vaguely tempted to give it a reread.  The insanity of half way through the series being fed into a cryogenic pod ...  And the gun fetishising ...

Anyone got any idea where to find this on the webshop?  Or am I being a bit keen trying to find it to pre order (seeing as us loyal subscribers are having to buy it the same as other **ahem** *lebeians)?

[No officer, I did not use the 'p' word]

Anybody read owt by Mr Robinson, and is he recommended?

Read most of his stuff.  Martians trilogy is well worth it but can be a slog in places.  30, 40 50 are a much easier read and leave you in no doubt of his eco - politics.  His coast trilogy are for my money the easiest read and personally I enjoyed the Gold Coast the most.  (apologies for the assonance).  The only one of his that I haven't been able to get into is Memory of Whiteness.

I would echo comments above regarding Bester's work, Starship Troopers and the Forever War trilogy (although the sequels are not quite on the same level).  Would also add in a hearty recommendation for most of Heinlein's output, particularly Moon is a harsh mistress.  Also Ray Bradbury, probably the most lyrical science fiction writer ever.

Currently on second prog slog and into the 1200's so passed quite a few of the aforementioned tales by.  I've wondered several times what the true 'Anno Horribilas' was but would place it around the 700 - 900's roughly.  Past 1000 really does see a pick up for my money.

I did find re-reading some of the early strips quite an eye opener.  Some of the strips were guilty pleasures when I first read them but I guess the tender age of 7 or 8 probably had something to do with that.  Even Starlord which I abandoned tooth for has some cringeworthy moments alongside the absolutely spectacular early Stront and Ro-Busters.

Alone in the Crowd is a definite for me.  Classic early Dillon artwork for a start.  Always felt he got lazy when he went to the states.  The script is so multi layered it is astounding.  Always felt it was a classic riposte to the eighties 'me first' culture.

Amen!  Just noticed this on CBR.
If posties late tomorrow then will have to arrange some suitable punishment.   ;)
Art looks superb.  Was a bit leery of the Jaeger concept as some of the recent Rogueiverse stories haven't been brilliant but this looks interesting.

Felt a bit spoiled this week with tooth and meg landing on the doormat.  Seriously tempted to start with the meg to find out what was going on with Anderson but gave in to the tooth and definitely not disappointed.  Can only agree wholeheartedly with what has been said about Dredd so far.  So many different subplots bubbling together at the same time and Flint on art duties.  For a one off it packed a heavy punch.  The Dredd / Hershey relationship seems as conflicted as ever.  Looking forward to seeing where this is headed.

Picked up Fringe at Christmas.  Currently on season 3.  Enjoying it much more in a compressed form.  Some of the one liners are absolute class.
