I too had a nice chat with the very friendly Mr Wagner and bought an awesome Button Man t-shirt from him . . .he gave the bairn a free signed comic, too - top day all round!

Sorry to necro-post, but thought that made more sense than creating another thread on the same topic  :)

A horror publisher I have a few stories in prose anthologies with is creating a new illustrated magazine and is on the lookout for artists and writers. This is the link here, with contact details:

I got my copy on Friday, and I'm working my way through it now. Trying to pace myself, to make it last, so I'm reading a story a day.

One thing that worries me is that I'd heard Rogan Gosh was impenetrable madness - but it made perfect sense to me! Does this mean I'm weird in some way?  :)

I've always had a soft spot for "I've got them . . .I'm just not scratching" from that old annual story about the highly contagious bug  :)

That take on Constantine looks . . .hideous. There's really no other word for it.

At least DC are re-releasing the Garth Ennis run on Hellblazer as graphic novels, so anyone who wants a more accurate take on the character have somewhere to go.

General / Re: Sequel to Harry Twenty?

Hadn't there been a few other stories that had turned out to be connected to classic strips at the time? I seem to remember that being mentioned in an interview for why the Harry 20 connection didn't happen.

A work colleague and me were just talking about Harry 20 the other day, come to think of it - bemoaning the fact that it hasn't been adapted into a movie yet. Now there's a comic-based film I'd rush to see.

The episode from that poster prog still makes me snort uncontrollable laughter every time I read it. Good to see it re-printed again!

Just read an advance e-book copy of DC's Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Collecting issues 1-6 of the comic it's a great little read - a lot funnier and more poignant than much of the stuff we see from our American cousins. It also achieves something I had previously thought impossible: it turns Aquaman into a really scary character.

I probably overthink these things  :)

Glad to hear "The Killing Joke" hasn't faced the dreaded retcon, though!

Reading this thread, it baffles me that The Killing Joke can ever be made non-canon - I'm not an Alan Moore super-fan by any stretch of the imagination, but this is an amazing work, and I struggle to see why anyone would want to retcon one of the greatest comic works ever written.

I was a little disappointed by this news at first. But having received my final subscriber's copy in the post today and seeing that there's only one full comic strip in there - the rest being previews of the new Titan Comics range coming out and a behind the scenes look at the Kick-Ass 2 movie - I'm thinking it was maybe a mercy killing.

That might have been me with "The Fictional Man." It really is rather good. We've got it facing out in the shop where I work, but I haven't got round to writing a review for it yet. Might be a touch one to describe, other than just saying "it's great."

Just read "The Fictional Man" by our very own Al Ewing. If anyone's not read it yet, I'd recommend it completely. High concept weirdness with great characters that really jump out at you - it's the kind of book that reminds you of why you love to read in the first place  :)

Crossed Wish You Were Here Volume 2 has been the most recent comic reading - I don't know if it's down to being published more often than the other on-going series in the Crossed universe, but the narrator of this one is so well-developed and it's just a great read. I'm eagerly awaiting the next part.

http://horrortree.com/ is a good one for prose writing sorts, too - you can break down a list of anthologies that are seeking submissions to a month-by-month view, which is handy!

Speaking of that era . . .

The satire of Big Dave really went over my head, as a younger chap. As someone who's grown up to love stuff like South Park and Brass Eye, I really wish I was reading it for the first time now. I think I'd probably laugh quite a lot.
