Hey, just thought I'd see who is making an attempt to create a strip for Mark Millar's CLiNT?

I'm going to put some script samples up on the Millarworld board in hopes of attracting an artist (I have a few script which I was planning to submit as Future Shocks but they'd work for CLiNT as well).

If there are any artists on this board they should head over to the Millarworld forum, they'll find plenty of eager writers there.

It's an interesting opportunity. I hope I can find an artist to work with so that I'm able to take advantage of it.

Ah, okay... although actually the submission policy has been slightly altered since that thread was started.

Stories can now be up to five pages long and there is also a second category for ongoing characters.

The new details can be found in the comic book resources article, which was posted just over a week ago.

No probs Pauul. As for an artist, well, there are quite a few that hang out here. Have you seen the monthly comp entrys? Lots of talented folk around! Good luck.

Many of the people here have blog signature type things, so I suggest perusing the Creative Common and then following the links of any artists you happen to like the look of.

Any suggestions on the best way to approach artists? You're both artists yourselves, I'm not sure that you'd want anyone who thinks they're a writer bombarding you with messages (unless you would, then I'd be happy to ).

So, what kindof stuff has encouraged you to work with writers which you didn't know?

best approach from down wind, offer small snacks in the flat of your hand and make yourself as small as possible, if that doesn't work try cheese

Haha, that might work. Or...I can only speak for myself, a quick PM of enquiry is all thats required, I would have thought. I dont consider that 'bombarding', lol. After all, they can only say no. (the last project I did, I saught a writer in this way. He didn't seem to mind!)

Blimey now that is a good challenge but a lot of work for an artist:

"We're also looking for a new iconic character who can get his own strip outside the short stories, so what I'd suggest for anyone who fancies it is to write the first 11-page episode of what they'd like to be a continuing series, and again, link up with an artist. If there's anything good enough, we'll buy it and use it. Try to think in terms of a 33-page story, but give us the first 11. If it's good, we'll buy it. It's that simple. But it has to be a real iconic character in the way that Kick-Ass is iconic or Judge Dredd is iconic. It's got to be a good title and a good vision of a lead character. Post your ideas here."

Golly gosh, that sounds a doddle.  Just come up with the next Judge Dredd, write the first episode and an outline of the next two, get some poor bugger to draw 11 pages, and if they like it they'll buy "it", whatever "it" means (all rights, one imagines).  They're a veritable charity.
