Week 3 of Round 3 is 'One and Done' week with no fewer than 3 of the surviving Future Shockesque stories appearing. They all have very interesting ties and ... well we'll see. In my mind though, intriguing as those clashes are, is a modern masters face-off that is one of the ties of the Round for me, not everyone I imagine, but for me...
We'll start off with one of the 'Done in Ones' the granddaddy of them all, the Poppa One Parter, vanquisher of Shirmura. For all its history, for their fundamental part in the Prog can they see off one of the truly great thrills, one which managed to spurn an even great Thrill (Loooook I have to do this I get to spout my opinion okay!) Insurrection has already seen off Abelard Snazz. Tough tie this one...

Just reply in this thread naming your favourite thrill of these two series at the beginning of your post (or use Bold tags so I can spot it easily) and say what you like about these wonderful stories after that.
Match ends early on the morning of Thursday 26th May and the winner gets a place in Round 4 (of 9!!!).
What on Earth is ALL of this? (https://forums.2000ad.com/index.php?topic=48011.0)

Insurrection
Insurrection is great but future shocks get this one
Insurrection
insurrection.
Insurrection.
It's in my top 3 Megazine thrills.
I find it hard to consider Future Shocks as a complete body of work as far as this contest is concerned.
There have been some absolutely outstanding ones, but not for a long time.
Shocks are part of 2000 AD's make-up but there aren't that many great ones and most of them were probably Time Twisters or Robo Tales anyway.
Insurrection
Another vote here for Insurrection
Insurrection. Great series. I appreciate that Future Shocks are important to the comic but it's only occasions that one really blows me away.
I'm betraying Abnett, MacNeil and one of the greatest ever Megazine series here...but those few Solid Gold Future Shocks are just too good to vote against.

The last great FS was only four progs ago!

Its a fair point AND the one in the Regened issue was really good to. They might be hit and miss but those hits are far from in the past.
I loved Insurrection on my last reread, and Mr Abnett is my all-time favourite script droid. But Future Shocks wins this because of all the pure insanity over the decades. And because reading the first two collected editions was sheer joy. Where is 3?
SBT
Insurrection
Future Shocks for the constant joy of new b&w artists.
Insurrection was fucking great but FS is an institution.

Nah...not for me.
Not on the same level as the top Alan Moore ones.
Insurrection was exciting - as in, "ooh, a new series of Insurrection!" or "ooh, I'll just skip ahead and read Insurrection first!"
Those are two thoughts I've never had for a Future Shock (despite some of them being good).
So - Insurrection, for me.
Insurrection. Abnett and MacNeil, the best there is at what they do!
Future Shock
future shocks
Man this is tough. Hard to argue with Funt Solo's logic...
but on the other hand, I have bought and read two FAT collections of Future Shocks, which inlcude plenty of bad alongside the good, and reached for them far more quickly than my Insurrection books. Insurrection really IS great, although perhaps less amazingly so now that we have Lawless.
Future Shocks for me.
I always felt Insurrection an oddball. It just didn't fit in my head as part of the Dredd universe. Taken on its own merits, it's fine, but it felt like a story from elsewhere that was rebranded for the Meg. My favourite thing about it is that the strip ultimately resulted in Lawless, which is one of the best things to appear in any 2000 AD publication.
Future Shocks are variable in the extreme, and I'd say less consistent than Time Twisters. But I'll give them the nod here, fractionally.
There seemed to be only one result on this one but Future Shocks have dominated the second half of this tie seem to have come back. Wow will final day votes push it either way? I'll let you know tomorrow morning so vote today.
VOTING CLOSED
Wow that was intense. Insurrection opened a 7 : 1 lead in the early voting and looked to be sweepign this one. The Future Shocks started to come back, and back and back. Even however even when FS was on top form it wasn't consistence enough and Insurrection was still pulling votes in. Yep it was intense but at the end of the day
Insurrection
held the line to fight in Round 4. The voting seemed fitting!
