Title: Watchmen GN
Post by: -Rogue- on 18 March, 2009, 11:10:00 PM
Hey guys, me again with more questions =P

I ordered //http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9781852860240/Watchmen a few days ago and I just wanted to make sure that its the graphics novel that encompasses all 12 issues of Watchmen.

Going by the description I'm assuming so, just wanted to make sure though ^^

Thanks!

Definitely looks like the one. Don't think there's anything else it could be.

Didn't think the smiley face close up cover was used any more, but at 400 odd pages it's gotta be the one yer after.

Let me know if you get a smiley face cover, I'm not too keen on the group shot covers that they seem to have now.

The close-up smiley cover is by far the best, the group shots on the current printings are really poor. I have a very, very tatty first print smiley and I love it. Will never replace that one.

See, it's alright for you- Mrs Logan doesn't read this!
I, on the other hand, am walking a very fine line here..!

I'd love the absolute edition but it's a bit pricey for my pocket.

There seems to be two different covers with group shots and I'm not even convinced both of them are by Gibbons... one deffo is but the other is very suspect.

Mrs Logan also isnt a warped warrior who wields an axe.

But she drew the line at a blow job and bought you ABSOLUTE WATCHMEN instead.

The Smiley cover is the US edition, the UK edition has the group shot, due to the Smiley being trademarked over here.

On the subject of the absolute edition, new paperback editions are based on the Absolute colouring & corrections (about 3/4)

hence why I now have 2 copies on my shelf...

Both are by Gibbons but the hardcover group shot is an early promo piece, which is why some bits are a bit off - Ozzy's hair for one - whereas the paperback group cover is a later piece when the costumes had been finalised.

That explanes it then... but why use an early promo piece as the cover to the book, what is the point in that?

Sorry for double post, can't edit the above post.
Well the post just came and I've got my Watchmen book but its the group shot photo.
A little disappointed as I would have preferred the smiley face, but ah well I've still got the book ^^

Yeah, the latest cover's wank alright. Give me the close up smiley any day. Why do publishers feel that a complicated but uninteresting picture is better than a classic icon? I noticed they've taken the one-eyed bowler-hatted man off A Clockwork Orange too and replaced it with a photo of a glass of milk. I piss in your milk.

EDIT:

Ah, that answers my question. I really must start actually reading threads before i shoot my mouth off.
