Thanks Rebellion!
Listened to lots of Saturday and appreciated the different voices. You'll hear that non-Squaxx lack basic knowledge and that even extends to hosts. There's a war on, so does it matter? Been saddened to see the online hostility recently as guests were announced.

John Wagner was the highlight, we're in the man's debt. Humble and witty, long may he keep scripting in whatever semi-retired way he can manage.

Much enjoyment 😎
Haven't looked on here since pre-pandemic times but a most excellent catch-up today in my opinion.
Approaching normal times 🤩

I vote Edinburgh for the next one too...

Not that great a coincidence. Besides having a reasonable explanation from Arthur C Clarke, where is the motive? Great publicity, for that corporation you 'dislike'...

Reminds me of the assertion that John Constantine was Jesus Christ (or relates in some way that... oh I don't care). J C, stands to reason. Yawn!

Hugely looking forward to the 'Meg Spinner' podcast...

I'll be reading along this time, quite when my Meg reading gave up the ghost I can't know and the planned [re-]read might as well be now. And 1.1 was the intended starting point.

Eli's art-based comments were refreshing. I'm usually concerned with art over story and concede that this feels like a minority position. Belardinelli or Ron Smith could illustrate the phone book (remember those?), and I'm happy. What Space Spinner can often do is cover the plot and enjoy the action, humour, etc. Art can get mentioned, but it usually isn't, beyond a name-check. When it's Strontium Dog, I'm picturing scratchy Ezquerra art, before I think 'story', that's just the way it is...

And as I like to contradict myself cover all angles, art discussions are tricky. For one, the SS guys hate a text story, and this is only right. Top artists get mentioned and even awards so kudos for that. What Eli's comments made clear is that more than ever, reading along is going to make the difference. Knowing MacNeil, Phillips, etc. styles gets you so far, reading along feels the right thing this time round.

BTW: running and podcasts doesn't really work - agreed!

Cheers on the best podcast(s) out there 👍

Interesting to hear how other folk's Wilderness ended, cheers.

I returned with 1800 (as some others here did, if memory serves). Wish I could remember if I sought out the prog or just stumbled upon it. Genuinely can't remember. Beneath a Bisley cover (which I didn't even register), the stories felt very crammed, very knowing. Definitely adult. A different beast, and I was pleased that the prog was there - it was painfully poor in the 90's when I just gave up - but it would be some weeks till I 'got it'. Now, that feels no different to my experience in 1980, and seems quite apt...

Within a few weeks we had Trifecta, and then the incomparable (return of) Stickleback. A return to the fold. Unlike you I was reading *nothing* at this stage. The Prog & Meg led to a US habit and that lasted years. Pull list later gave way to occasional trades, but Tharg remained... As people's tastes tend to 'comfort' in these tricky days, we can be more grateful than ever...?

No.
Emboldened, I just tried again and hit the [Pay £xx.xx] button.  The transaction went through at full price.

Hm, was about to spend some cash in the web shop but no discount at checkout. Guess renewing my sub about 3 weeks ago lost me the discount.. kinda annoying but makes sense. Decided against the purchase.

Prog / Re: Quick Question (Oh, the guilt....!)

The digital prog drops about midnight each Tuesday night. Can vary slightly. You'll be emailed. Use the link provided to hit the shop, sign in, when you select the digital version of the prog it will state you've already paid for this. Download!

As far as Ampney Crucis... that's the one I'm tempted by. Been cherry picking and preordered to the end of the run (as it stands). Been thinking I should have included Ampney.

Picking up the Hachette books on eBay doesn't tempt me. So many people trying to make a quick buck. I know that's the point, but I'd rather pass. And the prices charged for that two quid Horned God we all have...!

Drab Monarchy - a goth band who are surprisingly awesome.  The sound very 80s.

Drab Majesty
But yeah, decent.

Nice one Paddy. This episode has reminded me of my own torment with one neighbour. There were 'issues' involved and the whole thing was an institutional attempt to house a problem individual. What I'd done to deserve this, who knows.... anyway, the peace after this spell was palpable. Enjoy your own 👏 😀

Don't think our isolation is quite 'self-imposed' !-)
