Volume 2 prog 1....

You utter monster

It'll quite obviously be called App 2000.

Not 3000 A.D. then? ;-)

Yeah it was the precursor to the floppies which they started giving out when vol 4 ended. After the first issue I think they're stapled into the middle of the meg ... The first one has the story about the Rumananian vampires in ( the name escapes me ) .

Is that Satanus in Prog 6?  I'll wait until the Cursed Earth, then go back and compare scenes...

Oops - posted the blogpost a few hours ago but completely forgot to update here, Dredd made the cover and we John Cooper joins the roster of art droids.

Cheers for that.
I did have a look-see before your reply, to see if I could spot the panel in question, and the one you've mention was the one that did catch my eye. So, was this stated for sure, or is this something you have felt was always the case?
Certainly over the years, artwork was altered a good few times before going to print.

But a great excuse to re-read that particular episode!

I don't remember noticing it myself, but can't work out where I read about it.  In the course of my failed research I did just find out that Kev had to bodge some Volg outriders into an Invasion! strip, because to the Argentinian artist who originally drew them an outrider is a guy on a horse.  That's something to look out for (assuming I haven't already missed it).

This thread really should be moved to the Music section, shouldn't it?  That part of the forum didn't exist when I started it.  Any chance of shifting it up a section, Rich?

As you can see, I don't often look at this thread - but done!e

You may also observe that i don't either, despite starting it.. But thanks!

Now I understand.  Initially I thought it was a thread devoted to discovering and rediscovering music, but it's actually about discovering and rediscovering the thread itself!

O'Neill redrew/altered some of McMahon's work? Interesting. Which panel was that Sheridan?

(And didn't Kevin draw the little Tharg head on the cover of Prog 1?)
I think he did draw that Tharg, but could stand to be corrected.

Bottom right panel of the third page - that's definitely an early O'Neill skull!  Looks like he just filled in what would otherwise be a blank background.

Up to Prog 4 and Kevin O'Neill's first bona fide comics work in the Galaxy's Greatest (the background of one panel in the Dredd Brotherhood of Darkness story, and a full-page comic strip / advert for Flesh products).

Lying on the bunk in my hut, radiator on, listening to the Last Night of the Proms over my digital radio and reading Voltaire's Candide on my Blackberry. Surely this is the best of all possible worlds...

I have a Blackberry and have read Candide.  Wouldn't want to read the latter on the former though (or any sizeable amount of text on any handheld device - don't know how commuters manage it).

Onwards, to Prog 3, and the Belardinelli droid's first two-story prog (not that there are many - I think there's one coming up where he draws the Dredd as well as Dare).

p.s. we also get our first glimpse of what working conditions are like in the Command Module.

Well I didn't realise 'Drokk!' originated in Dan Dare, or that it was in Prog 1, so you're off to a good start! Any Betelgeusian expressions other than Galactic Groats?

Good point - there's no Borag Thungg, but he does sign off with a Splundig Vur Thrigg!
