I need to source a desktop for my parents.

They want it for email and the Internet, including skype, and that is it. All they do is email family and blow my inheritance going to visit distant relatives.

Any suggestions?

The cheapest at pc specialist is £324. Anyone got anything cheaper?

They won't do a refurb.

Ta much.

Get an old cardboard box and paint some keys on it.

My brother and I bought our folks £400 worth of PC two Christmases ago and it has barely been used since. Despite many informed tutorials their only question is 'How do you turn it off?' The Daily Express has conditioned them that gyspies will spring through it and steal their money while defiling the memory of princess Diana and allowing access to asylum seekers. That hardly ever happens!

LOL and LOL; my Mum's going through a Daily Mail phase at the moment. Buy them a cheap and nasty tablet instead, Doc.

You can get Skype for Ubuntu which is sufficent for their needs.
If they want Windows that's another £70.
Monitors start at around £70, and add a keyboard and mouse if they don't already have those.
