Books & Comics / Re: Storm Force

Storm Force was created by Barrie Tomlinson, Richard Burton and Vanyo, as a replacement for Action Force in Battle. A cross between Action Force, XMen and Thunderbirds. It was great, and got me back buying Battle for a bit, it had a long run in Eagle with some really great art by John Cooper and Vanyo.
There's a history and sketches in this-

I'm loving this new format, I only sometime read the floppies, but with this new format I'm reading to cover to cover. The reprints are enjoyable, I haven't read the Johnny Red before, so that's great. Smith really has a great handle on Dreddworld, so the Anderson is a good read, even though I have read it before, Critchlow is missed whereever he is.

The OEJ/Dredd is an enjoyable tale, I'm a fan of the character and seeing the new connections being made between old Fleetway characters and 2000 AD may be a bit fan servicing, but I love it!

Dreadnoughts is the best, but it does suffer a bit being monthly, I'd love to see it more often. Lawless however suits the monthly schedule just fine, great stuff.
Spektor is fine as a curio, JW is my favourite writer, but sometimes the humour doesn't land. And this, I think, is one of those times.
Death and his buddies, not a particular fan, great art though, and it is building to an interesting finale.

All in all a very good Meg.

News of more Burns art is always welcome, and to be fair to KekW, his scripts are never boring. The order is impenetrable, dense, and confusing, but equally has great ideas and development that keeps me onboard and  interested. I'd buy a complete edition at the drop of a hat.

Durham Red has two great creators doing a decent DR story, I'd love to see them both do something else together. While this is enjoyable and readable, like the Dark Judges DR's story is told, for me at least.

Dredd, Neimand has a good handle on Dredd and Googe is an amazing artist, keep going.

I never understood the Rogue dislike, the mistake was letting him find the traitor ( or did he?). This is great stuff, how good is Goddard?  Vibes of Colquhoun and Gibbons and still being himself, artist of the week.

Enemy Earth, not for me. I qualify this by saying I read 2000 AD every week, and generally read everything in it. This story is not aimed at me, (I think), but it is well written, and certainly not too much decompressed storytelling, it  harks back to Wagner and Grants or Barrie Tomlinsons storytelling, action moving the story. The art style is accomplished, and clear, again, not aimed at me but has an unmistakable style, and TBH I couldn't imaging this story drawn any other way. OK, so maybe Enemy Earth is pretty good.......

I recall really enjoying the Anderson ones, I think on the whole they were pretty good, some clunky Dredd ones, but worth a read.

There was some panels redrawn by Gibson IIRC. Robo Hunter as a series was one of the few W&G series I could take or leave, but this is a great story, and the last one  is pretty good too.
The Hogan/Hughes runs seem largely forgotten but I really like it, I wouldn't mind a collection of that, might not be enough material though.
