News / Re: Hiya Toys Judge Dredd range?
« on: 01 October, 2022, 06:21:20 AM »
I was checking this out yesterday. Hiya have Dredd and Death available from their own website for US $19.99 each. Postage was a flat $10 for one or both.  I’m umming over Death (and also Dredd because he’ll be available with the Lawmaster).  If they had a few other figures available I would have gone for it. I’d rather buy 4 figures later and pay $10 postage than 2 today and 2 later and $20 postage.

...and I just noticed there's a jump at about 13 minutes which loses whatever he says about Strontium Dog.  Now that I wanted to hear.

I'm watching a YT review of "The Best of 2000AD volume 1".  Discussing Halo Jones, the reviewer comments that he likes the zenade - but he pronounces it "zen-a-day" (here), missing the fact that it's a zen-grenade and therefore pronounced "zen-aid".

That said, he's got a free book and a cool set of stickers and I'm sat here carping on the forum, so I guess we know who came out best in this round!

Is this the first time we see Matt, Keith and Mr Molcher as their true robotic selves?

General / Re: FFT - What if? Derby Week Tie 12- Skizz vs DR & Quinch
« on: 28 September, 2022, 09:13:53 AM »
Now this is a proper hard one.

Skizz is a great story, emotional beats, wonderfully illustrated, and seems more SF that the two alien adolescents.

DR & Quinch is also well drawn, memorable, and has some great comedy beats.

With a lot of hesitation and teeth-sucking, I'm going to have to go for DR & Quinch.

Amazon is hardly a bastion of reliability on page counts. I saw one recently that stated an upcoming trade collection would have one page.

Yes, but what a page!

Announcements / Re: Classic Gums - to be released June 2023
« on: 28 September, 2022, 08:54:21 AM »

The first Gums collection is here, including the complete run of strips published in Monster Fun through 1976.

The hapless, loveable shark with false teeth was a highlight of the short-lived Monster Fun comic and proved to be so popular with the fans that he appeared as the front cover strip for most of the run.

The Great White (toothless) shark stalks a territory around the Australian coast, where he constantly butts heads with local surfer, Bluey. While Gums is out to snack on the youngster, Bluey is determined to take the shark's false teeth as a memento!
