Yvette Mimieux, who starred in The Time Machine and The Black Hole, has died.

I rewatched The Black Hole during a wee bout of lurgy last year. It was one of those films I managed to tape onto VHS when I was a kid and rewatched endlessly. A glorious mess, ripe for a remake.

We watched Eternals last night and Jim's review sums up our feelings. Some of the imagery is truly epic, some of it not so much (I'm thinking the deviants, which looked like cut-price mimics from Live Die Repeat). The deviant subplot is weak and poorly resolved, and the over-arching plot is clumsily delivered (with the whiff of re-shoots and agressive edits, but I may be wrong). Yet the Eternals themselves are an interesting bunch, very well cast, and pleasingly diverse. Their adventures through history are cool to watch.

I thought Ep. 3 was a bit flat in places, specifically the wookiee fight and speeder chase, but there was plenty of other stuff to enjoy. I'm still waiting for this series to explode to life the way Mandalorian did.

China's $1 trillion 'artificial sun' fusion reactor just got five times hotter than the sun.

China's "artificial sun" has set a new world record after superheating a loop of plasma to temperatures five times hotter than the sun for more than 17 minutes, state media reported.
The EAST (Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak) nuclear fusion reactor maintained a temperature of 158 million degrees Fahrenheit (70 million degrees Celsius) for 1,056 seconds, according to the Xinhua News Agency. The achievement brings scientists a small yet significant step closer to the creation of a source of near-unlimited clean energy.

What could possibly go wrong?
Not a lot, really, as I understand it. Obviously the reactor is a dangerous piece of machinery but there's no chance of runaway reactions.

Amazing work. I look forward to it every week as much as any high-profile TV series. In particular, the ongoing quality and consistency of the comic over the last two years only reinforces the professionalism and talent of those at the top. Long may he reign!

Last couple of episodes have been great, particularity the Christmas Eve Pella v Rocinante segment.

Two episodes left to tie it all up, and weave in the Laconia sub-plot?
Exactly my worry. Good as this series is, it still feels like a casual 12-episode stroll, not the 6-episode sprint I assumed it would be. Perhaps the final episode will be double-length.

Other Reviews / Re: Lawless

Those three trades literally dropped through my letterbox this-morning! I have set aside the requisite number of tea bags for a riveting couple of hours this weekend.
It took three months to have that pot of tea and catch up on Lawless, but I needed to get up-to-date for the new run so I carved out an afternoon over Christmas. What an amazing strip! How often do you see a comic with such a diverse ensemble, every one of them a scene stealer? And that art. It defies explanation. I can't fathom how Winslade does what he does. Can't wait for the next chapter.

Of course it doesn't! Shipping is added when you give them the shipping address. :)

That is the usual case with some of these Chinese manufacturers, although ThreeA's 2000AD lines pricing was International Shipping included from Honkers, which a few others also do.
I couldn't find any Shipping information on the HIYA site and the pre-order list price isn't indicated as RRP plus Shipping, so wrote I'm unsure.
I really appreciate your input as you are dead certain, so care to share the link with HIYA's Shipping Policy with pricing, if ordering directly from them?
I accept your scathing retort and apologise. :) I didn't realise there were online vendors where int. shipping was included in the sticker price.

Thanks, for the good thoughts guys. I probably won't be around for a while but this is such a great place and my wife would often look at me funny while I would be laughing at something said here.

Take call all.
We'll be here when you return! Best wishes to you and your family vB.

There wasn't a Christmas were several suspiciously annual-shaped presents weren't stacked under the tree. And the 200AD annuals were the most prized of all, natch. Those things must have been good value for cash-strapped parents.

While waiting on Metroid Dread to arrive in the post I downloaded Doom (2016) on my PS5 partially on a curious whim / partially because it was only a coupla quid.
Metroid Dread is bloody brilliant. I'm sneaking every spare minute I can find.
Finally on the last boss. Kind of don't want it to end. Performed the amazing trick of both frustrating me and keeping me hooked. Amazing game.
Complete, and quite proud of my tired old fingers for getting to the end of this one. Just the one Google. And to reiterate: amazing game.

Dune. Riveted by every shot and every performance, deflated by the cut-off. At least they had the knackers to put "Part One" under the opening title. Reassured that Part 2 has been greenlit.

Hiya Toys
Official site has DREDD and DEATH both listed at $19.99US which is around £15, but it's not clear if that includes shipping fee or not.
Of course it doesn't! Shipping is added when you give them the shipping address. :)
