I think you're right. I might be thinking of the tv miniseries of JATA.

Jason and The Argonauts.  The original one. The Good one!

It was on the telly this afternoon and even though I've seen it many times over the years, by Grud* I watched it again! It's still a fantastic watch and the stop-motion animation remains some of the best I've seen in film. The Bronze Giant and Skeleton scenes are particular highlights.

Nobody.  About a bloke that's a bit tasty and shit! It's more than that really as the guy in question is now leading the quiet family life and in a moment of what is pretty much absolute boredom decides to go back to his old ways. Not as over the top as John Wick and a half decent watch in its own right due to some great acting and fight choreography. Features Christopher Lloyd as The Dad. Worth a watch.

*I don't believe in Grud. Spoons are open for debate...

Prog / Prog 2230 - Takin' Care Of Business
« on: 01 May, 2021, 07:13:43 PM »
Eye catching Intestinauts cover by Pye Parr. I love the designs of these plucky little Gut-Scrubbers.

There's a Droid Life and Tharg touts the next Regened Prog - 2233, featuring Pandora Perfect. I liked the first one-off, it was a fun tale.

Dredd - A Penitent Man, Part 6. Final episode in what has been a very good run. Things end in a way I wasn't expecting and it looks like we'll be seeing more of Kyle in the future. Maybe this is all leading to a The Pit style Mega-Epic with Dredd doing a stint in the SJS to root out some of the shit. I'm probably wrong.

Thistlebone - Poisoned Roots, Part 10. I love this strip but for those who are finding it a bit slow this episode ramps it up a touch. Malcom and Seema meet for a drink and things take a bit of a turn. I'm wondering if Seema allowed herself to get captured and her friend who was coming to pick her up is actually following them from a safe distance. I'm probably wrong.

Deadworld - Transpolar, Part 2. Again, I was surprised by how this ended. Not only was it fairly optimistic but it looks like Death and Co. have a surprise coming.

"It's raining Nukes. Hallelujah - It's raining Nukes... You Pukes!" I dare say it'll all end in tears. This strip is pure Gold!

Tharg's 3riiler - Symbiotic Love Triangle. The Intestinauts return and things are a bit different as one of them seems to be heading out to the wider world. With a little help from his friend... This is a fun opener and acts as a good counter-point to the darker strips in the Prog.

Feral and Foe II, Part 7. Another great episode. Krod continues to steal the show until the end when the others seem to have come to grips with their bodies. The WoodGod Emissary is a sight to behold!

There's a Letters page.

Outstanding Prog!

Thistlebone: I fear folk looking for horror action are going to be disappointed: this is the action. Which is to say, creeping tension, unsettling imagery and odd incidents is what this strip does, and it does it brilliantly.

I agree. Thistlebone is one of my favorite strips in recent years and I have the lovely hardcover of the first series sat next to me. I think the slow burn nature is a benefit to this kind of tale/Folklore Horror.

Deadworld is just glorious and another of my favorites. Three cheers for brave, loyal Sir Robin Judge Gargon!

Dredd continues to intrigue and Feral and Foe is great. The 3hriller? Didn't do much for me I'm afraid. Still, it's only the first episode so we'll see what happens.

Looking forward to the return of Hope...

It's April which means it's Zombie season apparently.

Free on PS4 this month are Days Gone and Zombie Army 4: Dead War.

I'm not yet finished the first level of Doom: Eternal, but playing on Nightmare setting is the most fun I've had with a game for some time.

One of the best games I've ever played. I recently finished the second DLC and all it's done is left me wanting more.

Halo 5, in comparison, feels like a repetitive slog.

The only FPS that matches Dooms intensity would be Left 4 Dead 2, imo. And I've long since given up on the likes of COD and such.

In other gaming news - I'm currently replaying the first Doom game to get the Platinum Trophy. As good a game as this is it pails against the sequel.

And Beer. Get them to dress as a close approximation of their character, ply them with booze and then send them on one last quest/Treasure hunt around your garden.

There's a list of Judge Dredd Case Files, in publication order, on the 2000AD Web Shop if that is what you are after?

I'm also a physical subscriber.

On 16th Dec 2020 I received an email from 2000AD about the Future shock podcast. Upon clicking the link I was redirected to my Google account to download the app. Have a look at your inbox, you may have missed it.

Hope this helps.

At a guess I imagine the reason fresh loaves of bread were thrown out would be because of a legal requirement to have any possible allergens displayed on the packaging. A hand written label wouldn't be sufficient even if the information was correct, to the best of my knowledge.

Wonder what Dredd's secret is?  Big?  Small?  Piercing?
 Two?  None?

I would say small based on nothing but vague speculation.

Being the nigh unstoppable force he is might just be a product of over-compensation on his part, or something. Combine that with the absolutely massive Daystick on the cover and I think that you'll find I've probably read far too much into the story and quite possibly had one too many beers!

All nonsense aside it was the best tale in a very good Prog!
