Hi Tiplodocus, it's a bit of a camp out the night before deal. I spoke to someone at last year's TB who was... like 12th in line or summat like that and they didn't get to him. If you really want to do it get in early. Good luck.

Classifieds / Hitsville UK - weird pop comic
18 September, 2019, 10:55:05 PM
I lurk here most days but I'm bad at social media so rarely post.

If you're into 90s alternative UK comics, like Deadline, the holy trinity of Hewlett, Bond and Shaky Kane then you might like my comic Hitsville UK.

We're running a Kickstarter now till 3rd October, it is totally funded so it's essentially pre-sales. We'll launch collection at Thought Bubble.

If you know anyone who's into weird music and psychedelic art they'd probably like it too!

Thanks

That would be a shame, the return to the UK and it's deep dive into racism, Ireland, the Amazon-like working conditions are in no way subtle but there's a lot of good stuff in there. The Hickleton art on Chief Inspector Ryan surpasses anything he did on Torquemada. I think TWW starts to lose itself as Eve becomes sidelined out of the story to concentrate on Lyatt and Finn and only turns up occasionally for a lecture - like Danu in Slaine. There's probably something interesting in looking at the bleed between Mills 2000ad work and Crisis and Diceman.
Anyway, I was 14/15 when this came out and ripe for some blatant lefty propaganda comics. I bloody loved Crisis.

I'm probably being thick but I have found Hunted confusing. Mainly if that is the Traitor General then he looks completely different to how he did in the first series. Am I missing something or is it part of the story to come?

Also, has Mr Rennie said anything about why Jaegir is so delayed?
One of my favourite new thrills by a Nu-Earth mile and I'd have it in the Prog most weeks if I could.

I've read a good chunk of Misty over the last few years and I don't recall Misty appearing in a strip beyond the art poem introductions and some introductions for specific strips - like a Tharg's Future Shock. I may be wrong though.

Volume 2 will contain The Sentinels which personally I love. Twin tower blocks dominate a ruined post-industrial landscape. People start to go missing.
Every review then spoils it but I'll refrain here.
It is a good dark story though. ]
I'm not sure what the other strip collected will be.

When asked to list my 5 favourite comics I have to think twice to make sure I don't just include 3 Pat Mills comics.

The guy gets a Bowie Pass. Contribution is so great that whatever he wants to do is fine.

To be honest Bluearmarda, not sure about choosing this as your 4th post on forum and opening thread.
Maybe a respectful, well-considered, critique in an existing review thread.
Maybe some discussion of directions or topics you'd like to see his stories take.
Maybe some suggestions for thrusting young writers that you would like to see in the prog but you, possibly erroneously, feel are being kept out by the 'old guard'.
Maybe which character of his you would like to see 'do a Dredd' and get exposed to multiple creative voices.

There's ways to have a conversation on these kinds of topics.

Gah, I  totally failed to do mine. I was just ripping off 'Some Like it Hot' with Ace Garp so no great loss.

1. Necklace of Figs - Eamonn Clarke
2. What's the point man - Bad City Blue
3. SFX - Lobo Baggins.

The jockbox genius and the premier pain in his eggs it is!
Cheers BCB, much appreciated

Fine work Mr Baggins.

Bad City Blue - would you mind cranking up your random character generator from the previous comp and assigning me someone/something(s)?
My mind can't cope with too many options and it would be interesting to respond to a character I haven't selected.

Cheers!

1)   MODERN PANTHER Old Man Normal

2)   EAMONN CLARKE  Simping ain't easy.

3)   TIMOTHY A Touch Of Class

Really, these three are interchangeable. I think these really captured the voice of the subjects, the first two could be one-off episodes in the prog and I like the meta aspect to Ro-Jaws, it fits with him bursting on to the letters page annoying Tharg in the early days. And casting Mills as a brutish Svengali is a nice touch.

HMs to everyone else. Good stuff all round.
