I'm watching and even as a huge fan of the books agree the first episode is a tad weak but I'm guessing it's the fact it needs to set a lot up.  There have been some changes but it seems to get it right most of the time.  It does seem a bit generic at the moment but the first book in there series is a homage to LOTR but really starts to become its own thing as the series progresses.  The Trollocs look great its good to see they went practical for them, and if the ginger guys is getting on your nerves now wait till this hits season 3-4 to really grind your gears 🙂 ,though without spoiling anything that is part of his character development.

As a huge fan of the books I am enjoying what has been put to screen so far but will admit from a non fan point of view it could all come across as a bit generic I'll just say stick with it.  I'd give the first 3 episodes a high 7 out of 10.

New season of Bigmouth on the Flix, laugh my arse off but if this show doesn't make you uncomfortable there's something wrong with you.

I watched something on Netflix with Bruce Willis in it, a sci-fi film that was so atrocious I can't even remember it's name and frankly can't be f$&ked looking it up, just know it was really bad and don't be temted to loose 90 minutes watching it.

Dune

Just wow, that was one of the most cinematic experiences I've ever had but damn what a case of blue balls 😆 what the hell would have happened if they didn't green light part 2 as this definitely just ended in a completely unsatisfactory way.  I'm pretty sure they had it part 2 green lit all along and were just telling people it wasn't to drive up ticket sales because this is definitely just half a movie.

There's a couple of clips out there one of them showing Alan doing his business and he looks good doing it.  I think they are shuffling things about a bit copaired to the books so we get Tar Valon and the White Tower this season with Camlyn next season.  We are also getting ore if Logan the False Dragon in season 1 and I don't think he even got a mention in book 1

Yes I'm waiting, this, The Boys and The Expanse are why I have an Amazon Prime account.  I'm hopeful everything looks good so far (except Perrin is taller than Rand 🤪) it'll be interesting how they depict The One Power on screen as it's quite visual in the books being described as weaving the one power from the preview doesn't look like they have that part down but it may be different when we see it from the characters point of view as only they can see the weaves the normals just see the results.  I do like the casting and can't wait for Nynaeve to tug her braid 😊😊

The Squid Game on Netflix,  another one of this murder game show type series (Alice in Boarderland) this time from Korea.  Very bloody good, interesting premise (500 or so desperate down on their look do people are invited to a mysterious game to win big money, the game consists still of playing children's games such as red light green light but with deadly consequences) but it's the characters that keep you coming back, these types of shows usually thrive on the sadistic games that are played and the blood and guts and this has plenty of that but it's how much you end up investing in the characters that make it rise above others in its genre:  the last couple of episodes are absolutely devestating and the 5th game had me jumping and sitting on the edge of my seat.  Watch it if you can but give it more than 1 episode before you judge it starts with a bang but takes about 3 or so episodes before it rally grabs you.

Good god is this gorgeous looking, never read the books so don't really know the story but liking it so far.  Well acted and spectacular looking sci-fi, just what the doctor ordered.  The fact something like this can be made for TV just shows we are in the golden age of TV and I have high hopes for upcoming series on the streaming services (please be good Wheel if Time🤞)

Kate on Netflix, not too bad but not awesome just somewhere in between.  In the John Wick/Nobody type of action flick with bone crunching violence but not as good as either.  About a female assassin who has been poisoned by some radioactive gunk and she was not has 24 hours left to live and get revenge, the twist if you could call it that was pretty predictable you could see it coming a mile but off but some nice action and tha main actress is good at what she does, set in Tokyo so it looks great all neon and flash.  Definitely worth a watch if you like action but also definitely a Netflix joint but not a waste of 90 minutes.

Shang-chi, best marvel movie since Guardians.  Slick fight choreography, fun not to annoying sidekick that actually has a point rather than just there for the jokes, and some fun cameos
who ever thought we'd see Trevor again
.  Fun enjoyable couple of hours I think worth it even if you are a bit burnt out from Marvel movies.  First half better that second half and like all Marvel moves es climax is a bit battle in the sky but still a fun time.

Been watching The Girl from Nowhere on Netflix with the missus.  A Thai show sort of anthology in that each episode is it's own story but the titular Girl From Nowhere is in each one, she is named Nanno which is Thai for Karma and most episodes revolve around her appearing at a new school and teaching students, teachers or generally bad bullying types a lesson I n Karma (som na na as my missus sAys, you get what you deserve).  Some very good episodes in its two seasons but some are quite confused in what they are trying to say.  Good if you like something different from your usual western shows.

Jungle Cruise more like Jungle Snooze 😴
Actually it was alright if a bit to much like The Pirates movies, helps that I seem to like anything with The Rock in it and Ms Blunt is one of my favourite actresses working today.  Tried to watch Snake Eyes but that one truely put me to sleep, might try again at a late date.

I can't wait for this, I hope it does well as they have only filmed the first half of the book so it's just a part 1 and the second part hasn't been budgeted or confirmed yet so if it doesn't break the bank we might just end up with 1/2 the story  :'(

QuoteRadbacker, have you seen Red Cliff? It's a John Woo directed film of the Red Cliff battle (Wei vs Wu). I'm not sure how it resonates for an audience unfamilair with the sory and characters and it's about four hours long but if you know the story well worth sitting through.
Funny you should mention Red Cliff as I was going to bring it up in my original post but edited it out.  One of my favourite 3 Kingdoms movies absolutely epic but as you mentioned very long and much better if you are familiar with the 3 Kingdoms.  Wasn't Woo going to make more 3K movies?

Dynasty Warriors on Netflix, yes based on the game where you hit the x button lots.  Actually quite enjoyed it, typical big brash Chinese (?) blockbuster, about as dumb and vacuous as your usual Hollywood tripe but what can I say I like tripe!!!  I love 3 Kingdoms era stories and this one serves it up very fantasy like.  More to. One too as only tells the first part of the epic tale.
