General / Mutant strippers
11 April, 2002, 03:59:41 PM
Anyone see the programme on Channel 4 last night about strippers? One of the women on it was a bit of a goth, who as walking along a road said she was off to a photo shoot to model for a comic artist who bases a 2000ad character on the photos.

Yep, it was indeed Durham Red. Didn't have much about Mark Harrison himself but there you go. It showed a few paintings, but not of Durham Red. Bizarre, completely unexpected TV reference!

General / Novel artwork?
27 March, 2002, 07:39:29 PM
Just been looking at the novel section. Why is it that Savage Amusement(1993) has the same cover as Megazine 4.09??? Is it a reprint that's shown, or is it 9 year old artwork on the cover of the Megazine?

General / Bad Company
18 March, 2002, 07:05:06 PM
Thanks for reprinting Bad Company in the Meg. I've got the progs anyway, but it certainly serves to show everyone how BAD the recent return of Bad Company was. Excellent artwork in the original (obviously). Noticed more this time the Apocalypse Now homage. Looks like Kano was specifically based on Marlon Brandon, especially the side on view when he's says "THE HORROR!". Anyway, the old stuff (when 2000ad was still a kids comic looked like something from an older, more adult comic) is superb BUT the new stuff (now that 2000ad's practically an adult comic) looks like it was drawn for the Beano or something.

At least we have a decent artist for The VC's return.

A sad, sad day indeed. If anyone enjoys it as much as I do, there's a petition online. Morbo demands your comments, humans!

Suggestions / 2000 Anime
09 January, 2002, 08:42:34 PM
I'll start by stating that I'm NOT an Anime freak as such (there's some sick stuff out there!).

With all the talk of films etc and who to use, I've thought for a while that the perfect medium for both ABC WARRIORS and NEMESIS would be Japanese style animation, especially Nemesis with so much weirdness going on. The Japs would surely go for the 'fit inducing flashy robot' side of it, plus you could easily depict the massive amounts of destruction and carnage required. What does the populace think???

Anyone used the 2000ad binders? If so, care to give a review? No staff please! ;-)
