Crystal Castles are a band I'm ambivalent towards. They've done a couple of cracking tracks and a whole lot of boring dross. However, their new single with Fat Boab Smith is a cracker. At heart it's the kind of perky, lovelorn pop song The Cure used to do so well with a fashionable veneer of digital noise. Lovely

And this DIY video made me remember how much I liked Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
We never really die.

It's not bad yeah.

It took a while to grow on me and there are certain bits I am not too keen on such as the wall of noise rave moments but I like it.  :P I can't say I am much of a CC fan otherwise though.

I wish he would stop with these collaborations now though, he needs to get working on the next album, some live shows wouldn't go amiss either. No need to try stay relevant with all these young un's Bob, just get your arse back on stage and in the recording studio  :D

House of Usher

I was buying books in an Oxfam shop the other day and I was invited to browse a basket of newly donated CDs in the back room to see if there were any I wanted or if I could sort out any I recognized for them to prioritize to be put in the shop (there were mostly quite obscure). I picked out about a dozen I thought would sell for between 99p and £3.99.

Among them was an album by Andrew W.K. How very odd. I'd forgotten he ever existed. I shudder at the memory of it.
STRIKE !!!

Did you find anything interesting ?

Andrew WK appeared right at the time when i was still reading the music press and it was at this point that contemporary music and the music press started to really go downhill and i started losing interest in it all.

I never heard any Andrew WK but he was splashed all over the music press [as the next big thing] which was becoming increasingly juvenile.I think one track was "Party till you puke" which was something i had done myself a few times which meant i didnt feel the need to listen to a song about it.

Keef Monkey

Filter are one of my my favourite bands and the new video has lots of sauciness featuring one of my favourite ladies, Carmen Electra. Add in an awesome riff and it's all win for me really.

I have listened to My Bloody Valentine in bits but listened to Loveless again recently. Fuckin ace.

complete tone crush on Kevin Shields. I'm usually more into a clean sound but the sounds on that record are phenomenal, dirty yet melodic. Great stuff.

I still listen to that album quite a bit.If you like melodic distortion and feedback/effects then you REALLY should listen to the first self titled Flying Saucer Attack LP.

They were on Too Pure records. They did a fantastic cover of German Shepherds [Wire] which you can only listen to if you have a very rare LP of cover versions of Wire songs by various artists called Whore like i have. Its not uploaded on Youtube unfortunately.

Tiplodocus

Is this the right place to mention I'm going to see the Norwegian poptasticness wrapped in an airy falsetto, razor sharp cheek bones and tight leather trousers that is commonly referred to as "a-ha" tomorrow night?
Be excellent to each other. And party on!

Thanks for that, I will be sure to have a listen.

Wire are another band I have been meaning to give a listen too as well actually.

This thread is now starting to rediscover music which was already rediscovered earlier in this thread. To paraphrase: FSA are geniuses and their continued absence from the music scene is a sad loss; Loveless is great, but not as great as Isn't Anything.
We never really die.

SquashedFly

My fault then. Sorry about that, I should of read the thread more.

I have liked all I have heard from FSA so far though. Which isn't so bad.  :)
