Time is no barrier.

A free online preview was downloaded in its thousands, and now master storyteller Eric Brown's hotly anticipated new time-bending novel is set to hit bookstores.

A troubled novelist tries to hide from the past on a remote and idyllic Greek island as the 20th Century draws to a close. But when he falls in love it threatens to unleash the horrors that haunt him. Meanwhile, more than 60 years in the past and hundreds of miles away, two writers are called by their friend to investigate strange goings-on in Hopton Wood. Their discovery – a strange alien creature – will bring their world, and that of the reclusive novelist in the future, into a gripping and unexpected collision.

Ten years in the writing and his most ambitious novel to date, Eric Brown has crafted a tale of rare scope, populated with emotionally powerful characters. The Blue Portal, a 15,000-word preview of The Kings of Eternity, was downloaded thousands of times on its release on iTunes in December last year.

"A superb novel, rich with precisely the kind of speculation that SF exists for, providing a mesmerising slow-burn of intrigue, tension and human interest that compelled me to read it in one sitting." Peter F. Hamilton on Kings of Eternity

"Perfect. Eric Brown has reinvented the scientific romance for a new century. Intense, elegant, moving, this is Brown's best yet."Stephen Baxter on Kings of Eternity

One of the strongest voices in contemporary science-fiction, Eric Brown captures all the enthusiasm and sense of wonder of the great writers of the Golden Age of Science Fiction. Breathing new life into one of the oldest SF themes of all – first contact – Brown's Helix and Kéthani dealt with the emotional, social and political fallout of the shocking moment when we realise we are not alone in the universe, on both the grandest and humblest of stages. The Kings of Eternity continues in this rich vein, showing the effect of this epoch-changing moment on the lives of a handful of people over the course of decades.
