And I must admit, even I was taken aback by Dredd's reaction... http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/11/27/judge-dredd-beats-a-citizen-to-death-for-talking-back-in-the-new-2000ad/ Wonder what Wagner has in store for us and Dredd?

General / Who'd like to see a real Judge Dredd toy line?
01 November, 2013, 08:54:39 PM
As a long time Dredd fan it kills me that there has not been a toyline dedicated to him and his universe. We've got upstart characters like 'Axe Cop' getting his own toyline, but DREDD who has had near 4 decades of history in comics has nothing. Sure we've got the fine prop replicas from Planet Replicas and we've had some sweet statues and models, and even 2 action figures of dredd himself (however they are out of print and expensive) but we haven't had a real series of highly detailed and super articulated figures of him and his friends and foes (the 'Mega-Heroes' series from Mattel doesn't count) Hell, we don't even have a deluxe figure of the recent movie version from Hot Toys or Sideshow collectibles and they'll release pretty much anything except Dredd apparently. So if you're like me and want Judge Dredd collectibles o n your shelf yet can't afford the high priced Statues Please like our Facbook page and spread the word that there is indeed a demand for Judge Dredd action figures. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Judge-Dredd-Figures-Now/141741822694080

If you've seen their Judge Dredd statue and their just announced Judge Death one, http://www.toyark.com/news/general-toy-news-49/pop-culture-shock-judge-death-statue-teaser-6544/
they are stunning! :o
It got me thinking, if they are already planing on a ''death'' statue before Dredd is even released they must be very confident in the success of this property.
So is there any chance that if these collectibles are a hit they might do something more affordable in the way of highly detailed (and Super Possible) ;) Action Figures?

Has there been any word if we'll see DREDD action figures?
I mean even ''The Hunger Games'' is getting a series of action figures and so far there is no word on any DREDD toys? :eh:
And those pricey (yet awesome) Comic Replicas don't count.

Film Discussion / Dredd at San Diego Comic Con?

Any truth to the rumor that Dredd will have a sneak peek premiere at SDCC?

General / Has the ''Burger Law'' ever been reprinted?
04 January, 2011, 08:53:56 PM
Anywhere?
Got this off of the comics.org site ''Only the first two pages are in colour. This is one of very few vintage Judge Dredd stories never to have been reprinted, with the owners of the trademarked characters used not happy and only agreeing not to take any further action after an agreement that the stories would never see print again. More recently legal letters have been sent to webpages presenting the story online.''

These ''protos'' look pretty good for the time period these ''would'' have come out.
Shame we got those 2 inch messes and not these...

From what rumors I'm hearing (& reading) the long delayed Hellraiser remake is looking at a DROKKEN PG-13! :o

From bloodydisgusting-
Update: NEW DIRECTOR named. News here. We landed some huge news this weekend as we've confirmed that Christian E. Christiansen (say that ten times fast) is circling Dimension Films' big budget Hellraiser remake. As it was previously reported, the Victor Garcia low budget sequel, Revelations, was greenlit in order for the Weinstein Company to retain the rights (much like they did in 2005 with both Deader and Hellworld). Based on what I've heard from various people who have pitched their version of Hellraiser, the Weinsteins are looking for someone to make the franchise fitted for "teens" (super, super, super lame), thus making the director of Sony Screen Gems' The Roommate perfect for the gig. This leads beautifully into the news that the company hopes (nothing is signed) to land Amber Heard (Mandy Lane, Zombieland, The Stepfather) in the lead role. As much as I'm infatuated with Heard, you can't get more "teen" than that. Coming soon to a theater near you: Pinhead vs Sorority Row...

:| ...I really don't know how to feel about this.
I haven't seen 300 or Watchmen so I'm kind of ''meh'' about this.

http://www.deadline.com/2010/10/zack-snyder-directing-superman/

Deadline spoke with Zack Snyder, who confirms that as soon as he completes post on Sucker Punch, he'll move right into the Man of Steel. "I've been a big fan of the character for a long time, he's definitely the king of all superheroes, he's the one," Snyder told Deadline. "It's early yet, but I can tell you that what David and Chris have done with the story so far definitely has given me a great insight into a way to make him feel modern. I've always felt he was kind of awesome. I'll finish Sucker Punch and get right at it."

Breaking: Zack Snyder has been chosen to direct  the new installment of Superman for Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures. Snyder was on a short list of directors that Deadline revealed recently, who met with the studio and producers Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas. Other choices at the time included Tony Scott, Matt Reeves, Jonathan Liebesman, and Duncan Jones. Snyder is an inspired choice. He is a cornerstone filmmaker for Warner Bros., a visual stylist whose efforts for the studio include 300, Watchmen, and the upcoming Suckerpunch. Deadline revealed back on February 9 that the DC Comics stalwart Superman became a priority project when Nolan agreed to godfather the project. He and Goyer hatched the story and Goyer wrote the script

I've been rereading the crossover events with the Aliens one being absolutely superb & was wondering if these stories exist in there own pocket ''universe'' or if they are a part of Dredd's overall continuity?

The story is ''The return of Rico''
it's a one panel flashback shot where Joe & Rico are in the academy target practising.
I was shocked to see that.
Unfortunately they are at a distance.

From Bleeding cool...

Pre-Production On The Alien Prequels Is Forging Ahead... But Are Fox About To Pull The Plug? And What's This About Noomi Rapace?

We knew that the Alien prequels were casting: Gemma Arterton told the world that Ridley Scott wanted to talk to her about a part. We knew that they were being designed: Arthur Max told Crave that he was working at Pinewood, "doodling spaceships". We could be forgiven for thinking that they were now an inevitability.

But not so fast. A post at -script Flags sketches a dispute between Ridley Scott and 20th Century Fox:

Ridley Scott is at odds with 20th Century Fox, the major studios behind the project over budgetary and creative differences, according to sources close to the production.
It would seem Scott wants a budget of around $250m to make it a sci-fi spectacular, and is also pushing for an 18-rated level of violence and horror. Fox, however, don't plan on investing anywhere near that sum, and are keen to get a 15 rating to maximise the audience appeal.

Clearly the work of a Brit, due to how the classification system is being related. Which also makes me a tad suspicious; wouldn't Fox be thinking in terms of PG-13 and R, not 15 and 18?

So, adopting caution, let's look at another story -script Flags have on the same movie. They say:

The most interesting report is that Rapace met with and told Ridley Scott (and Scot Free's Michael Costigan) that she grew up on his films when she left home at 15. Scott is most likely currently looking for lead actresses and with the films he has on his slate their is really only one that requires personal meetings at this stage, Alien Prequel.

So... they're making all of this stuff up, right? Well, actually...

The Rapace story is dated 20th of August. It mentions that the actress had met Tommy Wirkola regarding his Hansel and Gretel, something substantiated later by comments made by Jeremy Renner in early September. Also on the list of potential projects for the actress is Sherlock Holmes 2, and we now know she actually got that role.

Here's the rest of their roster of potential movies for Ms. Noomi Rapace:

Mission: Impossible 4, The Last Voyage of the Demeter, Masterwork, The Raven, This Means War.

Make yourself a bingo card and keep watching the trades for the next twelve months or so. I doubt a full house is anything like possible, but I bet a line of three is a real possibility.

$250 million? Sounds like he want's to really one up Jim Cameron.

This doesn't included the horrid ''Mattel'' toys or the Medicom 12 inch doll.

I remember when the Re:Action figures came out I immediately bought Dredd with Anderson & Death, not long after and I even bought Johnny Alpha & I must say the quality was impressive.
But what happened to this company?
Why didn't we see a 2nd wave?
Did it just not make enough money?
One thing I'd like to say is that YEARS after the initial release of these figures ''Durham Red'' & ''Slain'' Clogged the pegs of comic shops & kay-B-toys EVERYWHERE!
I don't know how well those figures sold on your guys side of the pound, but they didn't move here.

The last Dredd figures to see the light of day was part of the Toy Biz ''Legendary comic book heroes'' series.

I thought it interesting that the most desired was Dredd! (and the base body was a reuse of the Long shot body & the Ben Affleck Daredevil neck, which meant very little head movement at all) I was severely disappointed with the quality as TB really cut corners, But they were more then willing to make a Perfect Bolland inspired DEATH?

As popular as Dredd is (in his home country of course) I'm surprised there hasn't been another attempt at making him and his world?

Film & TV / Why did the Robocop sequels SUCK?
24 September, 2010, 01:04:22 AM
There was a TON of potential with the character & his world, but it seams after
the first Film (a true MASTERPIECE) Everything went to crap.
What happened? and who do you blame?
Was Robo just a one trick pony?
Hollywood meddling with the writing/production?
Frank Miller? (I read the AVATER comic series that was based on millers original ''work''
But it was barely any better then the movie Robo 2) and it felt like a bunch of ideas strong together to make a story.

I'm one of the very few, who enjoyed the Dredd soundtrack so much so I bought the CD thinking I was going to get just the Alan Silvestri work.
However, I was dismayed to hear (literally) that the first five songs (if you can call them that) are CRAP rock songs.

1. Dredd Song - Bamonte, Perry Groan inducing
2. Darkness Falls - Johnson, Matt Absolutely Horrid
3. Super-Charger Heaven - Tempesta, John  CRAP
4. Need-Fire - Cocteau Twins  CRAP
5. Release the Pressure - Barnes, Neil John AND MORE CRAP

It's not till track 6 that you get to the reason you buy the CD in the drokken FIRST PLACE!

6. Judge Dredd Main Theme
7. Judgement Day
8. Block War
9. We Created You
10. Council Chaos
11. Angel Family
12. New World

I mean at least the Batman Soundtracks had the decency to separate the Score from the Pop songs.
I'm hoping maybe they will release the rest of Silvestries score as down loadable mp3's like they did for Goldsmith's Trailer.
I'm sorry for wasting everyone's time I just needed to vent my frustrations over this CD.
Luckely for me it was used so it only cost me $5.00 (I still feel like I paid to much for this)

Are there any plans for 2011 or 2012? maybe to promote the new Dredd film?
I won't lie I'd love to meet the legend himself (& thank him personally for his work) & to have him sign my Dredd #1 :-[

Not to long ago I would have said HELL NO! (the Prequels were a draining experience with no real Heart or humanity, just fast & blurry CG images that are there to try and distract you from the almost nonexistent plot & zero character development) But after watching the CLONE WARS series (and enjoying it!) I would really like to see the finale 3 ''Episodes'' of the Franchise just as long as George Lucas is nowhere near it's development (except for creator credits)
What do you think the odds are of Lucas giving his keys to the kingdom to a competent group of writers & Directors?

With the DREDD movie officially happening I'm hopeful that this movie will be at least a moderate success (at least make a little over budget) and make other 2000AD properties come to life on the big or small screen.

That this movie will usher in a whole new generation of ''fans'' to the world of Judge Dredd & the entire 2000AD Library (Strontiom Dog, Slaine, D.R. & Quinch, A.B.C. Warriors)
and that related merchandise clogs the arteries of toy & comic/specialty shops everywhere (ala Iron Man, Batman) & that Dredd finally gets the attention he deserves (outside of Europe, no offense :D ) Just imagine some kid with a Judge Helmet, Badge & Lawgiver Mk.II ''Judging'' the family dog?

That being said I fear this movie could also be the end for any more possible 2000AD properties if it fails. I mean it's taken 15 years for this movie to even get to the pre production stage, just imagine how long it could take if it bombs!
