I really liked Armoured Gideon. A giant robot exorcist from another dimension who talks like a dalek and chases after characters from old 2000ad stories? How could anyone possibly not like that?
Cos it's shit?
We never really die.

Roger Godpleton

The return of the Thin White Duke
throwing darts
in lovers' eyes
Here are we one magical moment
Such is the stuff from
where dreams are woven
Bending sound
Dredging the ocean lost in my circle
Here am I
Flashing no colour tall in this room
overlooking the ocean

Here are we
One magical movement
from Kether to Malkuth 1
There are you
You drive like a demon
from station to station
The return of the Thin White Duke
throwing darts
in lovers' eyes [x2]
The return of the Thin White Duke,
making sure white stains

Once there were mountains on mountains
And once there were sunbirds
to soar with
And once I could
never be down
Got to keep searching
and searching
Oh what will I be believing
and who will connect me with love?

Wonder who wonder who
wonder when
Have you sought fortune evasive and shy?
Drink to the men who protect you and I
Drink drink drain your glass
raise your glass high

[CHORUS 1]
It's not the side-effects of the cocaine
I'm thinking that it must be love
It's too late
- to be grateful
It's too late
- to be late again
It's too late
- to be hateful
The european cannon is here

[CHORUS 2]
I must be only one in a million
I won't let the day pass
without her
It's too late
- to be grateful
It's too late
- to be late again
It's too late
- to be hateful
The European cannon is here

[CHORUS 3]
Should I believe that I've been stricken?
Does my face show
some kind of glow?
It's too late
- to be grateful
It's too late
- to be late again
It's too late
- to be hateful
The european cannon is here, yes it's here

It's too late [5 times]
The European cannon is here
He's only trying to be what following how his dreams make you wanna be, man!

This is probably where the ABC Warriors jumped the shark, some god awful art, that people will tell you is some of the best to appear in the Prog because its Bisley and big Musclebound robots, well robots should look like robots and not muscle men and the writing is just terrible.

Im one of the people that liked the fact the robots were musclebound i think that even terri benefitted from this to some degree

It was also one of the story lines i quite enjoyed and remember most :(
loveforstitch - Does he fall in love? I like a little romance in all my movies.

Rekaert - Yes, he demonstrates it with bullets, punches and sentencing.

He's Mega City 1's own Don Juan.

First half of the eighties and the last three years for me! Absolutely amazing periods!

Particularly pleased with the current form - cracking stuff indeed! :D

Without coming across as "Well actually i thought it was rather good actually" or contradictory thats one of the strips i read as a lapsed reader and i enjoyed it for what it was despite the painted art.

Its just that i totally forgot about it until i read the comment.

I don't think the ABC Warriors' Black Hole story had painted art.

You're right -- pen and ink from Bisley and SMS all the way.

Cheers!

I far preferred SMS' Black Hole art to Bizley's, lots more Sophistication and emotion. I wish he'd drawn it all.

Peter Wolf

I meant to say it was B+W art.

Cool  - you do know that we are currently seeing Wagner revisiting the events of "The Final solution", potentially with an eye to overturning certain events?

Too late perhaps? i hope not.

For me, probably the mid-late 80s & early 90s. There were loads of strips then that I particularly liked. The Journal of Luke Kirby has always stuck in my mind, as has Dragonheist (a Sláine strip that I think was mid-80s). Also Oz and Song of the Surfer (although that takes us into 1990). And Bisley's Sláine art.

Maybe it's just because that's when I was reading most avidly though - and I'm sure I've missed loads of great stuff in the past 8 years.
