Title: Blood Bowl
Post by: BoJirch on 04 September, 2009, 10:31:10 AM
Cant wait for blood bowl on 360. Got the DS version yesterday from mininova. Pretty sick so far. Definately need to get a league going soon as 360 one comes out. Anyone  remember Necromunda? Was basically a Gamesworkshop game set in a simialr enviroment to a megacity where a player controlled a gang. Just dusted off my old Delaques yesterday- still 100% bad ass years later. Anyone else like vintage GW games?

Used to love Blood Bowl the board game.

I've ordered my copy of the new release of Space Hulk too, which I'm strangely excited about, even though I'll very rarely (if ever) get to play it!

I've missed this one! Whens Space Hulk out? Is it a totally new rules with a new rulebook? All the skirmish games are so much more fun then the army battles. I love the levelling up aspects of blood bowl as well-probably explains my other past addiction to Final Fantasy VII!

A new release of Space Hulk? Do you mean a new edition of the board game or a video game? I've still got my old SH board game, but sadly it's been quite some time since I've played. I've just stared my daughter on the old HeroQuest game, so we're getting there!

New board game, but I think it's a limited release (for now).

Checked on the GW website, all of the mail order ones have sold out so its a store purchase only released tomorrow. On my lunch break Im going to try and reserve one. For some reason I think its retailing at £35. Not entirely sure if thats accurate or mindless optimism on my part.

Oh my. Looks like I'll be taking a drive to Cambridge tomorrow morning.

The site has the game listed as £50 (or near enough) wow that's expensive... well probably not these days but it surprised me. I loved Blood Bowl even if I was a bit rubbish at it. I always wanted to get a Skraven team to work but never mastered the best strategies for them!

I can't be having with keeping up with the massive expense of the tabletop games, but the recent rash of video games are all damn fine; Warhammer Online, Dawn of War 2 and Blood Bowl are all exemplary. Particularly BB - if there's enough of us, a board league would be fun.

I also have very fond memories of Necromunda. If that could be replicated in video form, I'd be a happy bugger indeed.

am up for a board league fo sure. I'll have to wait for a 360 release though due to my antiquated pc, it's like a really slow and pathetic dinosaur from Jurassic park. Totally agree with the comment about the high cost of tabletop gaming hence the skirmish games being the best. Only need to buy 8 models or so and job done.
Fingers crossed for the Dredd Necromunda hybrid Video Game! Imagine the judges attempting to establish order within the hive! The Carnage!

I am anxiously awaiting my friend's arrival; on his way to Cambridge this afternoon, he stopped by the house and a gave him a stack of bills with the sole mission (well besides his own shopping) of making his way to Games Workshop and getting hold of a copy of Space Hulk.

Hopefully, I'll post a review soon - but if anyone else has managed to get their mitts on it, please fill us in on your thoughts!

My copy is secured, but I'm waiting on delivery by the post fairies... probably mid next week before I get it.

BTW, if anyone ever fancies starting a league - as mentioned above - and you live in the Cambridge/Ely area, count me in!

Is it coming out for the 360? I thought it was just Ds PSP and PC.
Will def get the Ds version, as I know a few friend who'll get it too!

Think I remember seeing that on the ad as well. I remember saying out loud "Oooh, think I'll go for the PSP version", which I probably wouldn't have if it had mentioned 360.

Oi Oi, Googled it and im pretty sure a 360 version will be released later in the year. The septics are getting the first 360 release though! Further discrimination for the gamers in Europe.

said how I loved the board game, found another board game in my parent's attic recently:  Chainsaw warrior?!

was this any good?

(oh, lsd, what have you done to my long term memory?)

Wasn't Chainsaw Warrior the solo game when you went up a tower bloke that was over run by zombies collecting cool kit on the way or some such. If it was that one it was really good (and had a Brett Ewins cover)

Picked up the DS version friday. Pretty sweet. Very much like the board game, and much like the board game I suck!

But it is fun!

Please excuse my complete ignorance here but I don't reallyplay computer games but I'm tempted to buy this as I used to love Blood Bowl. Now I have a laptop which meets all the other specs required that I can spot however I haven't the first idea about graphics cards. Now the game requires 128 Mo graphics card (supporting 2.0 shaders) and my laptop has Video Card (I'm assuming this is the same thing?) 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 so to my simple reading thats 128 to 256 so all good? But is this correct and what on earth are 2.0 shaders????

I know laptops aren't designed for games but does this seem ok?

I dont understand why this game is graphic heavy ( it has long loading times too)

Its very Basic

DONT TAKE BASIC AS A NEGATIVE as this game is AWSOme, i'm loving the internet leagues at the moment.

I've no clue what 2.0 shaders are either, but they're some kind of thing that the recent generation of graphics cards can do which old ones can't. A quick nosey says that the Radeon 4570 can do such, so you ought to be ok.

Thanks very much for that Samuel. I think I might take the risk. I'm sure I could laways return it... now to work out when I'd get time to play it????

Try visiting www.systemrequirementslab.com it'll analyse your system and tell you how well the game will run, I've used it loads. Very useful.

Now that sir is a fantastic. It turns out (no suprise here) that my work PC wouldn't cope. When I'm home I'll check how the laptop copes (man I hope it fails on Batman Arkham Asylum as that's a game I don't think I'd have time to get into!)

Pretty nifty isn't it? It's very accurate. The way it rates your system will give you a really honest idea of what to expect if you buy the game.

Well just checking my laptop at home and it can handle a Blood Bowl happily by the look of it BUT Arkham Asylum it can run but might not be at its best - so thats a good balance BUT there seems to be so many games out there where I can pretend to be a Roman. This investigating computer games could be dangerous!

I bought Oblivion a couple of years back. Systemslab said it wouldn't be at it's best. I bought it expecting the worst but it was ok actually.
