Indeed, LoEG was the only ABC strip that was creator owned, so it's the only one that Moore carried on with after his infamous exit from ABC. He willingly sold the movie rights and then became enraged when the studio seemed to cave in to a plagiarism lawsuit. Hence, no more Moore movies.

I think my post might be controversial, but when you mentioned RE Village, to me, that game is an example of how fandom can get ahead of themselves. Some people rushed to worship Lady Dimitrescu, whose design is nothing that stands out, apart from being heghty, when her presence in the game is some 20-30 minutes.

Ah, so I think the appeal of Lady D may be lost on you. Personally, I find myself rather less than immune.

As you say, RE8 is not actually The Adventures of the Cool Giant Vampire Woman. Suspect the next one will be, though.

This is crushingly sad.

Dave was one of the nicest people I've ever met, as well as a supremely talented artist, letterer and editor. He was always astonishingly generous with his time and never asked for anything in return.

No tribute to Dave could possibly exaggerate what a great guy he was.

I feel that the only legitimate criticism of Lynch's version is that it's just too damn brilliant.

Coming from that standpoint, this trailer doesn't really impress. It seems pretty bland to me.

Still, I wish the film well because the source material is excellent and also because if the movie bombs and the sequel never get made then that would be horrible for all concerned.

The collected hardback edition of this is now out, and I have just finished it.

No idea if I liked the book or not. The constant genre-flipping obscures the plot and characters to the point where you have to work quite hard to keep track of who people are or what they are doing. Still, there are many fantastic ideas, and of course the art is lovely.

What really comes through is how angry both Moore and O'Neil are about the comics industry. Hardly surprising they have both walked away.

Reigate's Miwk stopped stocking new comics pretty much the moment that Brexit hosed the currency. Although, strangely sales of Funko Pops don't seem to suffer.

I personally don't really like to own physical comics, but I can't abide digital so I'm pushed very much to the big books.

I fear this is a show for people who know the name Watchmen but don't really know what it was about or why it was good. Which is a lot of people.

It's also a show for people who hate Alan Moore, but I think there's far fewer of those. Probably less than a million.

At which point, why will publishers be willing to take a risk on, well, basically anything?

Because they would make loads of money if it was popular, same as ever.

Obviously I understand that comics is a bastion of publisher rights, and nothing's likely to change anytime soon, but it doesn't have to be this way.

I'm going to come out fully behind Pat on this one. The royalty payment was an insult and he's entitled to bite back. Not that it will do him any good, but I bet it made him feel better.

Long ago I came to agree with Alan Moore on the subject of creator rights. All comics should be creator-owned.

I thought the funeral montage, clearly assembled from lots of individual little groups photoshopped together into one scene, looked really obvious and cheesy.

I also thought it looked potentially super-fake - like a Vanity Fair "group" shot of people that have never met - but it was apparently done for real.

Loved Endgame, the perfect conclusion to Marvel's amazing run of great movies. Indeed, I'm not actually sure where they go from here. Be very hard to top that.

However, and even bigger question for me is who is the "Steven Denton" whose name appears on the memorials to victims of The Snap? Any relation to the Steven Denton who hangs out here?
