Everyone I talk to about Saphire & Steel can only remember the one about the Train Station. I also remember an episdoe when the elements Lead and Mercury made an appearance. Did any other elements ever turn up?

Yeah, it was a great show. It's a shame we don't get anything half as creepy / imaginative like it on telly anymore.

one of the most imaginative ideas ever portrayed in TV - is that he is a being who exists in every photo ever taken

There's a magnificent Alexei Sayle sketch where a woman takes back her photos to Boots because there's a Cardinal in every one.
Be excellent to each other. And party on!

Anyone remember the Martian Chronicles?

Can't remember mercury, though there is Silver, who for some reason reminds me of Pat Mills, maybe its the seventies hair.

There is the 'nursery rhyme one', 'the train station one', 'the faceless man in the photograph one', 'the time travellers in the weird apartment with the psooky manchild one', 'the 80's/30's party with the weird door one' and finally 'the one in the petrol station'

The first four of those really scared the shite out of me as a child and still remain disturbing.

I certainly do remember the Martian Chronicles - one of my favourite sci-fi series ever. I understand it is due out on DVD within the next 12 months (way-hay!)

Poor old Sapphire and Stell. The DVD picture quality is horrendous, the victim of too high a rate of compression. Saying that, each story could have had two episodes edited out and it wouldn't make any diference to the plot.

Fantastic. Good to see someone else remembers it too as I was starting to get the impression that I had imagined the whole thing (I must have been about 5 when that was broadcast)...

Martian Chronicles with Rock Hudson? I have vague memories of it being strange, sad and beautiful, and I'll have some of that when it comes out on dvd.

Martian Chronicles... Where the Martians dying? I remember they would appear as what the humans wanted most, I think... cue white picket fence Americana and one turning up in a church as Jesus

I remember an astronaught shooting a martian with what can be best described as a 'clam'. The robe the martian was wearing fell to the floor empty (a'la Kenobi) and a horrified human onlooker had to explain to the astronaught that the martian had meant no harm...
It was kind of sad and strange yes...

John Caliber

That's right. The first astronauts to land on Mars were killed via a Martian deception. When the Earth colonies were eventually established, the Martains were amongst their midst, disguised and altering the humans' perceptions of their environment. One Martian was shapeshifter, others glowing spheres visible to a priest.

Earth was destroyed in a nuclear war. Only Rock Hudon and his family survived. The Martian race had died out and the last humans on Mars were now the new Martians.
