Excellent line up of thrills at the moment (well, 4 out of 5, but it's an anthology), all wrapped up in another great cover from John McCrea.

Enjoying this Dredd story, as a relentless Dredd vs fake-Shako battle. As we still don't know why Dredd is there, or why he brought the hand-picked rookie with him, I assume this leads into the next story – although letters page says that is written by Neimand. Love the Dredd face at the bottom of page 5 "you ain't no animal!"

This is my first exposure to Aquila, and it is non-stop action, interweaved with excellent set-up of who the characters are, their situation and relationships. Indigo Prime is the complete opposite of this – totally impenetrable to me, no idea what anyone is doing or why (as usual for Kek-W). Others seem to see something I can't though.

Brink and Vex are both excellent – probably my favourite two thrills since rejoining the squaxx a couple of years ago. Having both in the current run of progs is quite a treat.

Yay for Proteus Vex , excellent and weird and ridiculous and intriguing like it always is. Boo for Indigo Prime which is none of those things, like Kek-W always isn't

Also enjoying Full Tilt Boogie a lot and wouldn't complain about further stories around that Terror Tale. Definitely the Dredd cover for last week though.

I thought, in Full Tilt Boogie, her screaming caused some kind of resonance in the big pink thing that eventually shattered. Also the floaty spanner got her out of the immediate confines of the trap. Really enjoying this Thrill, even though the text is sparse.

Two thrills came to an end. I probably won't miss either of them. Enemy Earth kind of grew on me, due to its sheer energy. Really can't get along with the art style though. The English Astronaut ended a bit of a mess I thought.

Both replaced by the Kek-W power hour next prog which really doesn't thrill me. I've found that droid's scripts completely impenetrable and inaccessible over the last couple of years.

Thank TMO the rest of the prog is so strong. Loving Full Tilt Boogie , Thistlebone is horrible (in a good way) and Dredd is just perfection.

Quote from: Richard on 30 January, 2024, 12:10:37 AMAs for the 3riller, I wonder if there is any significance to the date? The day after JFK was shot, and the day of Dr Who's first episode. Anyway, I liked the big opening page. I don't mind the 3riller format, it allows a Future Shock some space to breathe.

I would guess it's a Dr Who reference, given who the script droid is (has the Cornell droid worked for Tharg before?). See also the scientist at the British Experimental Space Programme called Elizabeth Shore (the scientific advisor to UNIT in Pertwee's first series was Liz Shaw). I'm not a fan of Future Shocks at all but I have really enjoyed the 3rillers that I've seen.

Elsewhere in the Prog, both Full Tilt Boogie and Thistlebone are new to me, and both making a very good impression. Even Enemy Earth, which isn't my cup of tea, can't be said to be boring. Really strong line up of Thrills.

Top thrill at the moment is Helium for me. Really enjoying this, and the ante has been upped two episodes running. I liked the line about the surprisingly violent behaviour of people who make nice pastries.

Dredd Poison has also been top notch. A bit of a farewell tour around a whole bunch of locations (space, east meg, cursed earth) with a satisfying denouement. And Dredd being full-on Dredd too.

Deadworld picked up the last two progs. As a newly (ish) returned reader I have struggled to find a way into both this and The Order (lots of seemingly unrelated characters and threads with no explanation). But these last two episodes were fun, and brought things together.

The Devils Railroad is fast moving and on-the-nose, and Feral and Foe is a lot of fun, with fantastic art.

The current set of stories are properly tickling the old thrill sensors.

Very strong Autumn line up, all thrills entertaining. The free download of Helium was very much appreciated.
All wrapped up in a suberb cover from Alex Ronald.

I've been back amongst the Squaxx for two years now. The first few regened progs I saw were quite interesting with at least a couple of entertaining thrills in them. That really isn't the case with this one, or the previous one. I will just be leafing through the next one with the assumption it is heading for the recycle bin. That said, I do like the covers.

Great cover. I always enjoy this style of cover – a comics style portrait on a blank background really pops. They should do them more often for characters other than Dredd.

Dredd strip itself continues nicely. I'm liking the way Asher thinks he is treading some kind of line between good and bad, but Dredd just sees it as unlawful. Also loved the robo-jimp arrest (such a great idea, it could have had a whole episode).

Can't be bothered with Portals any more, still reading it, but I have no sense of the context for what is going on (for example, is Devouroo's business against the law and, if not, why don't the werewolves etc just buy their goo from Tescos?). Dexter just continues (I'm not calling it Azimuth any more).

Enjoyed Maxwell's Demon, and more than happy to spend more time in the company of Herne and Shuck in the future. Hershey is top thrill for me at the moment.

Two weeks until more thrills.

Hershey my top thrill at the moment. All out action and regret.

Nice to see Herne and Shuck back, was hoping for a longer run rather than a Threeller but loving it so far.

Dredd: very much like the Neimand droid script as usual. Black Goo still not quite clicking for me but it's kind of growing on me (as black goo should I suppose)

Azimuth or Dexter or whatever we call it now just brought in so much backstory that I don't know or care about. Zzzz

Top notch prog overall

Quote from: Funt Solo [R] on 19 July, 2023, 11:15:13 PMBecause where we left off (in the series "Dexter") was Sinister is now a creepfake that's trying to kill Dexter. Unless that's not actually Sinister there in the Ferrati, but is actually Lilith in her last disguise from the End of the Pier Show.

And, well, if Azimuth is some kind of VR-sim, there is a question of how Dexter is manifest within it. Last we saw, he was on a real pier.

It may all be terribly obvious to everyone else, but I've still got questions.

I haven't read anywhere near enough Sinister Dexter to even understand what your questions mean, which is why I'm disappointed that Azimuth isn't a brand new thrill that I can enjoy without puzzling over what has gone before.

Ah well, I still have the excellent Voidrunners (until it turns out to be a spin off from Ace Trucking).

I am wondering (hoping) the sinister Dexter thing is a double bluff. We've seen a bunch of characters from other franchises in the background during Azimuth so far....

Void Runners still my top thrill.
