do forbidden planet stores stock marvel comics? and 2000 ad? ??
They do, but you may have to look for them in some stores. They seem to find the merchandise much more appealing these days.

My local FP does but Smiths gets tooth and the meg long before they do... though they do keep some back issues.
It is mostly a toy shop but they have a few interesting books tooked away and the staff are much nicer than the other comic shop... (and don't sell out as often either)
The FP in London stocks 2000, only current and back 2 weeks or so.
The same for monthly comics and Meg, current and back 2 months or so. They do have some back issues of american comics but they are badly thumbed.
anyone know about the newcastle store?
Newcastle has comics, yes.
Paul, that has got to be the shortest answer I remember from you.

Don't provoke him Dave!
>Newcastle has comics, yes.
Hmmm I can only remember one with white hair and a slightly effeminate voice. Unless you mean Jimmy Nail
what happened to FP then?
there was a time when it was the holy grail of comic shops
. my first visit to FP in denmark street was awesome. they had some young upstart of an artist by the name of brain bolland doing adds for them and dispoable carrier bags.
art work was displayed wrapped in cling film and every thing was on wooden shelves.
the finest creators would be there for comic book signings and you could easily rub shoulders with the industries best.also browsing through the waste hieght back progs area.
it was comic fan boy nirvana back then.
these days its sounds like TOYS R US. some big company buy them out. or did they just grow and go all company suits on us?
Its okay Karne, I'm a professional, I can handle it.
DD: I think they just had to adapt and survive in the market of the '90s and unfortunately, this must be what 'the market' wants a comic shop to be like.
Sad though.

Ahh, happy days D.D. The thrill of seeing Denmark Street in Captain Britain, occasionaly spotting Banarama going to their flat above the shop, the horror of seeing Denmark street in the Nemesis photo strip and just the vibe to the place. Back then, along with Dark They Were And Golden Eyed, it really felt like you were in a special place and part of something special too.
Started to change when FP had a seperate film shop open round the corner but it was still much better than now - Clive Barker and Jonathen Ross just hanging out but best of all, being pally with Alan Jones (Starburst reviewer, author and tv pundit) and getting loads of free tickets to press screenings.
Happy days indeed. FP is the Woolworths of the SF scene now i'm afraid.
Indeedy, indeedy, indeed. Never been to Denmark Street but the FP in Glasgow used to be great for books. Hard to get stuff, American imports and such. A great place to while away an hour or two. Now its "Books?. Oh, sir should try a bookshop". Sad day when Waterstones carry a better selection of SF than FP.
does it have judge dredd graphic novels, marvel colections (essential x-men etc.)??
im just full of questions :)
i agree with dounray on everything and judge orlok the glasgow one does can't tell you if others do
Belfast used to have a great independant comic shop, then one day I made the journey into the big smoke (I'm not there that often, so trips to the comic shop are precious), to find it bought over by FP. Not to worry, I thought stepping inside.
Hold on! This is a toy shop!
They still do comics and GNs, but too many toys!
Hmmm... but how many of these would still be around and still selling any comics if they hadn't been taken over by FP?
Probably all sorts of complex arguments involved here.
Oh and Middlesborough FP (a FP scotland branch) have 2000AD and a pretty good rack of comics, and there's Books N' Comics on Lithorpe road too.
But why do you want to know orlok?
Indeed rac. Talisman is no more but they still do comics, graphic novels and back issues (go upstairs) and the staff remain the same (apart from a few new upstarts and alas no Frankie Fuzz, he left for the dizzy heights of B&Q).
And most importantly it's still run by comics fans (Mal ther manager has had strips in Crisis and wrote a few other things for Fantagraphics and Image) and I still call it Talisman.
'and I still call it Talisman.'
Yeah! Me too, but then, to me a Marathon will always be a Marathon, and Opal Fruits just that...
