The early CyberFaction-type Cyberman did have small, teardrop-like shapes moulded into the lower part of its eyesockets.  The reason for this is unknown, but it is said to be a telling reminder of their lost humanity.

David Banks says so, so it must be true!

(And it's nothing to do with extra holes drilled into the helmet to prevent the actor from suffocating.)

Funny story - I once attacked David Banks while he was dressed as the Cyber Leader, causing ?200 of damage to his suit ... at the time I was inside a Dalek ... this all took place on the West-bound platform of Aylesbury train station ...
