No a 2000ad sports star has to battle evil cyborgs, blow up robot children, smash folks with maces and ... stuff dead gangster remains into a garbage grinder... christ when you say it like that football is sooo boring isn't it....

Tempted to go with Bad 'Jack' Keller - for testing out a theory about invulnerability by shooting his sister in the back with a crossbow. Not very sporting, that.

Giant seems like the obvious choice, but those guys couldn't even drive a bus.

Matt Talon if only because Mean Arena was my first 2000AD sports strip having missed Harlem Heroes and Inferno until getting them in reprint decades later.

Jacob Sardini. He's a great character who appeared in one of the all time classic Dredds....but it still feels wrong to vote for him, as he's not in "sports" strip. But none of the others were great really, so Jacob gets it.

Yeah its made very clear that in MC1 Taxidermy is very much a competitive sport and that was why I was so chuffed when someone nominated him. I'd completely forgotten he'd qualify and I love the fact that it shows when 2000ad does any category in this competiton they will do it a bit different.

Heck even defining who the 'goodies' and 'baddies' are is an utter challenge. Hence The Merging
