So here we are final week of Round 3 and quality here will set us up well for what's to come. There are some stunning ties here and a proper local derby to really add some flavour - I was so chuffed when this one was drawn as it's a right good tie (you'll only have to wait until Tuesday...). Round 4 will be coming soon (Monday next week I imagine!) and it's going to start to get super tough... or tougher at least!
The Round ends with two Dredd world series. Dark Judges gave sentence to an unrated story from the dark-times in Mambo. The rejuvenation of Death and co deserves a good run though... but will it get it as it comes up against Ezquerra's most Coburn of characters with the super cool dusty cop? Koburn gunned down Terror Tales last round, one of the better series of done in ones so it has form. Pucker up folks as we kiss Round 3 goodbye...

Just reply in this thread naming your favourite thrill of these two series at the beginning of your post (or use Bold tags so I can spot it easily) and say what you like about these wonderful stories after that.
Match ends early on the morning of Sunday 3rd July and the winner gets a place in Round 4 (of 9!!!).

Any questions, just ask as ever - and have FUN
Dark Judges.
Dark Judges
CEK reliably entertaining but...
Dark Judges
Koburn
Dark Judges, not because I'm too fussed about the judges themselves these days but I've really enjoyed the writing and art of this interpretation.
Cursed Earth Koburn, major easy in the Curs-ed earth? back of the net!
In Boing we trust.
Dark Judges
Koburn. Dare I say it, the Dark Judges are getting boring again.
Koburn.
Koburn by a long way. Zero interest in the DJs in space stuff.
Koburn.
Koburn. There are no words for much I hate all the current iterations of the Dark Judges in both the prog and the Meg.
SBT
Not a fan of space DJs, Deadworld is great though.
Koburn was good fun, so Koburn it is.
Yep, each Koburn strip is always a fun time, Dark Judges decidely NOT fun, and although there's a place for chilling horror, it only manages ot be that sometimes, rather than consistently. The Torture Garden was excellent, the others a bit more like watching a mid-level Alien sequel.
Cursed Earth Koburn, yo.
The Dark Judges ... I N S P A C E ! ! !
Big fan of Koburn, as well. I'd vote for both, if I could.
all day, every day.
Koburn
Enjoyed both strips but I'm going to have to give this to Dark Judges Nick's art is gloriously horrible.
Dark Judges.
Cheers
Nick Percival's art is superbly grim and works very well for all the DJ strips but I often find myself shrugging my shoulders at story'e end.
Every page of Cursed Earth Koburn on the other hand is entertaining and filled with joyous fun.
Dare I say it, with the Malachi story arc, Koburn also did something more interesting with the Dark Judges legacy than the whole of Deliverance.

Yes BPP - but which one??
Koburn
Mother Russia... Mother Russia... DOMINION
Cursed Earth Koburn
This is a better iteration of the Dark Judges than most, but it still feels like it's going through the motions too much, and seeking convoluted reasons why these characters should still exist rather than be banished forever. Koburn, on the other hand, was a lot of fun, and so it wins it for me.
Dark judges
And this one is the final vote of Round 3. Once this one is done things will start to move fast as we enter Round 4 and the quality is ramped and the speed is cranked... so relax today with your final Round 3 vote.

Mother Russia... Mother Russia... DOMINION
I'm not quite the ageing goth that Jim is, but I get the reference. Not quite sure which to vote for, both stories are great.
VOTING CLOSED
So Round 3 ends with a fascinating tie. One thrill burst out the blocks took and early lead, was then quickly and brutally pulled back and overtaken. From there it was a fairly even exchange, but the leading thrill managed to maintain its lead to the line. Dark Judges is a thrill that really has recaptured the horror of its evil leds and its done an incredible job of revitalising characters who I thought long, LONG past their sell by date and so for me at least its a real shame that
Cursed Earth Koburn
will be having the shortest wait for Round 4 to start...
