I loved this collection. Really classic comics by Wagner & Grant and that terrific gritty Eric Bradbury art. Great stuff. This and the Thirteenth Floor are absolute gems and I'm gonna get One Eyed Jack soon.

Really hope they collect Doomlord. Does anyone know if they have the rights for that?

Other Reviews / Re: 2019 Sci-Fi Special: A Tribute to Carlos Ezquerra
« on: 20 June, 2019, 10:12:02 PM »
That was a great special! Enjoyed all of it and the centre poster was magic. Carlos smiling surrounded by his creations. Lovely tribute and Cliff Robinson's art is just gorgeous. If he was doing strip work it would be amazing if he continued Spector. Because let's just say it, it was brilliant, pure class and it hit me that that's it. That is the last Carlos Ezquerra art we will see. It hit me when I read what John said in his intro. I read the scripts that follow it with Carlos in my head but we'll never know. I'm glad John wants to continue it cos it should be. I hope it is Colin MacNeil. His style is different but his storytelling is up there with the king. I'm glad they did this special. It was a treat. Nice one.

I picked up a couple of Necropolis pages at Lawless the other week. Pinching myself that I actually own them and delighted to be able to get them direct from Carlos' family, if only I could have gotten them from the man himself. Here's one of them. Sorry the pic isn't better. I will scan them properly one day...

I said it over on Facebook as well, but the man owes us nothing. John Wagner is a pure legend. Over 40 years of stunning stories. Is there anyone better on Dredd? No. But is there a better writer in comics? I would also argue no. I think he is better than Alan Moore. What a body of work. Aren't we lucky? I feel the price of my sub is worth the chance of opening a prog and seeing his name in the credits box somewhere.

You can see how much he has enjoyed doing Rok of The Reds. Hope ye all bought it and will contribute to the kickstarter for series 2 when it kicks off. One way of saying thanks and getting a brilliant comic at the same time.

I really hope they don't do more Strontium Dog unless John Wagner wants to. I was very moved to hear Matt Smith say on the thrillcast that they may not do any more SD after Carlos passed. Great respect there.

That looks really awesome. It's little expensive for me unfortunately but at the bottom of the ebay listing one of the suggestions was the Paradox Press Bogie Man collection which I'd been looking for for ages. Got it! Thanks so much for that, sorted by accident :)

Machine Law is just stunning. Pages 3 & 4 are nearly up there with America for me. Script and art just completely at one. Those two pages alone are unreal and then there's the rest of the episode! Bombshells is right. Imagine this was 20 parts long. We can dream. Worth the price of me sub to get to read this on a Saturday when it hits the mat.

Cheers Colin. Yep,yep, yep. The art on Machine Law has been just stunning. Me jaw has dropped a couple of times. What a story. Wagner and MacNiel of unbelievable form. It’s just one specific page so fingers crossed 🤞

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone might know how to contact Colin McNeil about buying a page from him? It’s a very recent page so I’m hoping he still has it.

Cheers

Seemed to me like the robot was just saying it like he saw it and didn’t know who Dredd was at all. He had to search records sure. Another punch in the gut. That panel of Dredd's reaction? Classic. MacNeil is just brilliant. I know the re-juve never meant him to look crazy younger but that one page in this weeks prog has so much more power without it. I think that's what is implied. The man is 70*, what's he doing on the streets? Magic. Pure Dredd.

(*I think this works. Dredd was born in 2066 and artificially aged to 5 years old and its 2141 now he's had or about to have a big birthday)

What a Dredd. 6 pages that feel like 20. I took Dredd to be talking about his and Hershey's words over Mechanismo previously. But it’s ambiguous enough to keep it all in world. Later in the strip however it would seem Dredd's 're-juve' over in the meg hasn’t taken ;) 'You look kinda long in the tooth to be in active service buddy. You sure you oughta be on the street?' . Its that kind of thing John Wagner just drops into a story and punches you in the gut. Masterful. And what a lovely idea the possible new CJ is. 6 pages worth the wait and worth the price of admission alone.
