I don't really understand why there isn't a piece of Glenn's art on the front as he's one of the main contributors. If this covers the Tomb of Terror period then there are dozens of images that would work.

 Its not pretty.

 There is nothing wrong with the art and the logo is nice and crisp and bold.Its just the background colour and the background itself.It looks empty and their chioce of colour looks like whoever chose the colour was colourblind.

Considering your choices W.r. Logan.

The first Slaine image you have chaosen. I like that one alot. It's sums the early Slaine very well, including nearly all aspects of what the early Slaine was about.

 The pile of Formorian corpses, Ukko the dwarf hanging off his leg. The full moon shaped blade of Brain-Biter being held aloft... The iconic black and red warrior garb and the majestic green Knucker in the background fanning it's wings, perhaps dropping off or picking up. Hard to tell in just one panel. Without including any of the female characters. It's one of the first colourised  Glenn Fabrys images as well. I was prompted to buy that particular book for the image alone.

The second image which I think is Glen Fabry's also is a great collage including Ukko, Elfric with some other nasties. I quite like that  picture alot also, finding it displayed on the inside back cover of the D20 Slaine rule book. Except I always thought Slaine's facial expression in this picture put me off. Sort of pouting childessly while brandicing his signature weapon for effect. Thats the reason alone I would say negatory to this choice for a cover. Also, I'm not sure if Elfric featured in any of the stories at this stage. It would be wrong to have him on the cover then. I guess. Plus the other strangeness. It's all from 'Demon-Killer' which happened much later in the series.  

The third image is probably spot on and it's only been used once. I would say that now is the best opportunity to use this image a second time. Maybe spliced with that other image of Niamh fighting that changling woman with the Formorian Tax-collector standing off to the side.

Why not re-use the cover for 'Slaine 'The Killing fields'. One of the first Slaine covers I ever brought and a classic image it would be . That is vintage Slaine! If this graphic novel would go so far as to cover this short story as well.

Yeah, I'd go for the Prog 582 Fabry cover meself - it's the least 'generic fantasy' of the lot, despite being the simplest.  

However, that said, I think the Collins/Farmer image is pretty striking, and we've already had a pretty shonky piece of early Fabry on Volume 2, and will probably have Bisley on any Horned God volumes and Power on the Time Travel volumes that continue this edition.    So having a strong image by one of the other Slaine artists of the period on Volume 3 makes sense.

What i don't understand, and what's stopping me buying beyond Volume 1 (Best. Cover. EVER), is why they chose a weak Fabry for Time Killer.  To my mind McMahon's best ever work is in Volume 1, and the Time Monster Cover is some of his very best work, so it's a no-brainer.  Then Volume 2 belongs to Bellardinelli - Dragonheist is his finest moment on the series, and one of my favourite sequences from all his work.  Fabry has some great work in Volume 2, but he really shines in Volume 3, with Slaine the King and Warrior Niamh.  So give him the cover of Vol 3.   Reissue Volume 2 with a Belardinelli cover, and then 3 with a Fabry cover, and you'd have two new sales.
