Er, link didn't go where it was supposed to. Scroll down to "unpublished issue 25".
The panel with Bates is genius - want it now!

(Just a pity that Bates page blatantly swipes a couple of earlier Garry Leach faces / poses of the character. The ones that aren't swipes are embarassing cartoons. Nice layout, though.)

Random grumpy thoughts:

Warrior's Marvelman starts off as a landmark in British comics. A breathtaking masterpiece of b&w art from Garry Leach followed ably by Alan Davis and John Ridgeway. Then it all got re-packaged for the yanks by Eclipse as horribly coloured reprints and continued the story with sub-fanzine art. A fucking disgrace.

I never did find out how Moore's story finishes, but just the thought of airy fairy goth chancer Gaiman producing a more lawyer-friendly version called Miracleman made me sick enough not to bother chasing it up. I'm only pleased for Gaiman now 'cause I can stand McFarlane even less.

paulvonscott

Yeah, I'll probably only buy the Alan Moore ones, I've read the odd Gaimen one and while they aren't aeful, they do have that air of slightly airy fairy Gaimen about them.

Wood

The thing is, that Alan Moore's story goes as far as you possibly can ever fullstop finito with a suerhero story.

Gaiman's starts from where Moore's finishes.

You see the problem?

Anyway, I have the Gaiman TP. So I didn't have a problem with selling the Gaiman issues I had (four of them) on eBay last year for a total of ?125. Chuffed? Oh yes.

Wood

Oh, and they only only cost me 20p each in the bargain box in the local comic shop.

ESCUBRIA

Yes, stick with the Moore ones, they are incredible; Gaiman's stories are a bit watery with just a few interesting ideas with no real strong characters that do anything.

Gaiman's arc is more like "Tales from the World Of Marvelman", in fact Marvelman does hardly anything except hang around and talk philosophy ' till the early hours in the few appearances he makes.

Kate_Halprin

To be fair most of the published Gaiman stories are from his first series 'The Golden Age', which is really about what happens in the utopia that Alan Moore set up and not supposed to be full of action. The next two books 'The Silver Age' and 'The Dark Age' were going to be about how things change from there - but then Eclipse collapsed.

If your fed up of just reading your well thumbed ?Watchmen? graphic novel you could follow the annotated watchmen site and pull the whole thing apart panel by panel.

Both sites have the exact same text but follow which one you like the layout of:

Took the "which Watchman are you" test - i'm Dr Manhatten and now i'm feeling blue...
According to that i should be a TV repair man (spooky as that's what i trained to be at college)
Much more interesting is that my wife is Night Owl and has a fetish for uniforms. Worth investigating.

The Amstor Computer

Yep, the Warriors are worth a little, esp. issue 4 which contains a never-reprinted MM tale. I wouldn't part with mine, because I love re-reading them, but if you wanted to sell, you could probably get a reasonable price.

Proudhuff

Thanks BB, Its just a good excuse to hold on to them, much like the pile o' Lone wolf and cub from around that time. I wouldn't sell the Warriors ( in their Warrior binders) either unless i was in Dire Straits...

but I'm not musical anyway

Sorry I'll get me coat Huff
