I thought it was always interesting to see when artists better known for other stories gave their take on Dredd. Kevin O'Neill, Bryan Talbot and Glenn Fabry spring to mind immediately. I loved O'Neill's take on Death in a one-page ad spoof - "Tombs - Fleshy menthol flavour".

Is that just speculation or has Hachette actually confirmed any of this?

Not sure about Return of Rico but I'm sure I read on the Facebook page that Judge Whitey and Robot Wars wouldn't be included.

DSoTM is a great thematic compilation, with horror, murder mystery, action and some scene-setting in the early stories for lasting effects still being felt. I'll echo the earlier post about not always being able to figure out what's going on in Breathing Space, however it's got bags of atmosphere (ha) which every great psychological drama needs.

Will the early Luna 1 stories here be the earliest in the collection, as I'm sure I've read that neither Judge Whitey nor The Robot Wars will be appearing?

Now that Darkside has been included, what will be the back-up stories in the City of the Damned volume? In the Year 2120 must be a shoe-in, but what else? Other stories by the same artists? Any Kim Raymond fans out there?

Is Darkside in volume 80?

As a longtime reader are there any serious omissions in this collection.

I'm hoping Pirates of the Black Atlantic will be included, that's a pretty pivotal story in Dredd history.

The highlight of The Art of Taxidermy was, for me, Return..., Wagner and Gibson both on top form. The back-up stories are an eclectic but fun collection, always interesting to see what gets put in these volumes. Hoping for some more early 80s stuff.

Enjoyed the Anderson Half Life Volume, Ranson excelling throughout. I thought the Half-life story itself which starts of the volume was especially good,

I felt that, like many Grant solo scripts (Re*evolution being the worst culprit), Lock in and City of the Dead could have been more tightly plotted. There were several plot threads left hanging but my main gripe was with the Half Life Virus <SPOILER ALERT> There was no real explanation how the nano tech and the virus could on the one hand create eternal life but, on the other, turn folk into blood crazed zombies. Unless I'm missing something.

Further spoiler alert: I think this was to do with Fauster's inability to control what he had created, but perhaps there could have been more emphasis of this.

Overall though, a great addition to the Anderson canon with some stunning images from Arthur Ranson.
The final volume of Anderson is Engram, which in addition to the title story will hopefully include Triad, and I would guess there'd also be room for some shorter stories, any votes/thoughts on likely/wished-for inclusions?

The Facebook page has posted the cover of Dark Side of the Moon, again, but the associated blurb is about Tour of Duty. So I think this means that issue 45 will be the first of the three ToD volumes. Following that:

46: Young Death
47: ?
48 or 49: Wilderlands
50: Fetish
51: Anderson - Engram
52: Banzai Battalion

The Day the Law Died is Wagner fully finding his feet with Dredd on the first epic he wrote solo, with a who's who line-up of classic Dredd artists. Brilliant stuff.

Helter Skelter I thought was a bit muddled, but I like the idea of the Fiends of the Eastern Front still on the loose somewhere in MC-1.

A high five for AG. Franqweitz gets my vote every time.

Any idea what's in issue 44 & beyond?

The Facebook page has posted the cover of issue 44, Dark Side of the Moon. Cover is by Brian Bolland, from (I think) an Eagle comics reprint cover. Credited: John Smith, Rob Williams, John Wagner, Gordon Rennie, Paul Marshall, Peter Doherty, Laurence Campbell, Brian Bolland & Ian Gibson.

So contents will include some (all?) of the early prog Dredd Luna-1 stories, and the Smith-penned reappearance of the zombie counterpart from City of the Damned. And the rest, any guesses?

Horror Stories is a good compilation of old and new. Agreed that it's a shame about the repro on THOSH9, as Brett Ewins' Anderson stories look pin-sharp in this collection. Hopefully The Wally Squad will fare better. Good to see some annual & special stories included, with some pithy wit alongside the horror. And The Jigsaw Murders is vintage Smith. Overall, a themed collection that works well.

At the halfway point, a few thoughts on the collection so far. Please add yours, or more.....

Favourite cover: Beyond Mega-City One
Favourite endpapers: Oz
Favourite volume: The Life & Crimes of PJ Maybe
Favourite epic/arc: Day of Chaos
Favourite standalone story: Missing
Favourite non-Dredd issue: Devlin Waugh, Chasing Herod
Favourite non-Dredd story: Anderson, Shamballa

The Facebook page has posted the cover of issue 43, The Art of Taxidermy. Cover is by Steve Dillon from Prog 507. Credited are Wagner, Grant, Rob Williams, Ian Gibson, Cam Kennedy, Trevor Hairsine and John Higgins. So it will feature the three Sardini stories and - what else?

Another great episode, fascinating interview with Ben Wheatley, all of whose films I've enjoyed, apart from Kill List for some reason, maybe I need to see it again. Fiends of the Eastern Front as a film, what a great idea. Keep up the good work Molch-R.

Purgatory reads like an unmade Arnie/Sly 80s action film, rejected for being too over the top. Inferno turns it down a bit but Grice is still a pantomime villain. Best to view as a Big Mac and fries compared to the majority of the rest of the collection's multi-course gourmet banquet and move on.

Looking forward to Horror Stories, full contents as yet unknown....
