Didn’t think this was out until next week?

I am assuming the style he has adopted for Joe Pineapples is so that it is in keeping with the first two Bisley episodes. If he had used the photo style it would have been really jarring - unless he had done all the episodes. But this was always meant to be abled to be positioned as new Bisley art in the Prog.

I have recounted and reckon the most copies I have of stuff is 4. I also have a bunch of things 3 times.

I never really set out to buy things multiple times, it’s just ended up that way by accident.

For what it is worth what I have 4 times is selected episodes of The Cursed Earth.

I originally bought the Titan edition as I wasn’t buying the Prog at the time it was published.
Then I bought the Hachette as the pages have come loose in the Titan edition, so that was a replacement for that.

Then I bought the Uncensored version to get the missing episodes and colour centres spreads.

And I have bought the odd back Prog, more to fill in my collection, than to specifically get the Cursed Earth.

Things I have three times are where I have the original Progs, then bought a physical collected edition, which I think is valid, and then got a digital version as part of a Humble Bundle. And so hadn’t really intended to.

Apart from Nikolai Dante, where I decided I need collections of the whole lot and bought them when there was an offer on digital, including buying two I already had physically, to make sure they were all in one place.

So taking the bait…..two questions

What versions do you have?

And why do you need 5 different ones?

(The most I have bought something is three times).

I keep meaning to finish off my ABC Warriors re-read. I got as far as the Volgan War part two - about 5 years ago - and stopped. I’ll get there eventually, but it’s just not been a priority. I always find myself going back to series one.  Nothing since comes close to that level of excitement

Hope…. Some of the repeated headshots and images in this story have drawn me out of it a bit - people with exactly the same facial expression and lighting in multiple different scenes and such like. I like Broxton’s work a lot though, would be interested in his thoughts behind this.

Brett Ewins used to do that all the time on Bad Company; I don’t known why he did it, but I’ve not read any negative comments about it.

I’m still of the view that ultimately everything will go down the same road as Halo Jones and end up being coloured in.  That won't make the B&W versions disappear, but I think it's increasingly likely if Rebellion want to continue to sell reprints to new audiences, and to find ways of re-selling them to those of us who have already bought them.

I’m fine with that. After all Rebellion is a business and anything that generate more income for them has only got to be a good thing in terms of their long term prosperity and ultimately their ability to keep printing the Prog.

If colour is the only way to attract a new audience, then why not? Especially if the coloured version already exists.

For the the die hardship, as you say the black and white still exists, so everyone should be happy surely?

For what it’s worth I’ve got the coloured version of Halo Jones, but only because it was included in a Humble Bundle. I don’t think I would have bought it otherwise. And I’ve not read it, mainly because I had only recently read the Hachette black and white one, and wasn’t going to read it again so soon.

Think I have only once received a Friday Prog before.

Not counting those that came the week after.😂

One thing that has happen before is the discount didn’t show up in my account. I then raised a ticket via the “contact us” part of the webshop and Rebellion storted it out. They are usually pretty good at doing that.

No you don’t get it emailed to you. It appears in your 2000AD web shop account. It then gets applied when you make a purchase on the web shop.

If you only want to make a small purchase and save it for a more expensive stuff that is being released later in the year, you have to remove it from your basket. You can only use it once in the year, so I save mine for when I’m buying a load of stuff.

Yes I’m also surprised by the relative fall of Brink. Maybe it’s was due to the focus on a different lead character. Comments on the review thread at the time indicate that might be the case. It didn’t really bother me and I can think of a couple of TV series that did that without it harming them.

When I voted for Proteus Vex, I wasn’t consciously aware that the bulk of the previous series was actually in 2021 not 2022. I must be mis-remembering as I thought it had started in the Xmas Prog. Oh well maybe not.

Joe Pineapples – Three episodes in and suddenly I released all the excitement off having the last Mills strip in the prog is gone.  I was hoping to enjoy this more, but the story is not working for me. I also was surprised that I found Clint’s artwork is just so much better than the previous two parts, sorry Simon but that is just the truth of things.

Yes agree with that. Except I’m not sure how much excitement I have left at the prospect of a Mills script any more. On previous threads a few years ago, I defended his right to have stories printed in the Prog and he he written some of my all time favourite thrills, but really they were 30 or 40 plus years ago.

It’s got to the point, sadly, that I’m happy not to see any further work from him in the Prog. Which is probably academic anyway.

As for Clint’s art - yes it’s an improvement but it could probably have been even better if there wasn’t a need to do it in the same sort of style as the first two episodes.

My wife yesterday reading this issue: "Is this the same Bisley everyone loves, or a different guy?"

Another Saturday Prog here, albeit one where Tharg forgot to change the black ink cartridge. Alas.

My copy also seems affected. The colours in Dredd, Proteus Vex and the ad on the inside back cover seem washed out and the text is grey not black in those strips. Is that how yours is? Does anyone else have similar issues with their copies?

Late to the review thread, because I'm late to the prog, because after much procrastination I've gone digital. 'New year, new start', as Damage Report suggests.

I’m about to go digital myself. I’ve not renewed my physical combi sub and am getting my last few Progs and one more Meg before it runs out. Then I’ll be taking out digital subs. It’s a shame, but I just don’t have the room anymore. If I could magically swap my physical collection for a digital one, I would at this point.

Pity you can’t get the subscriber gifts with the digital subs, but that’s not incentive enough to keep the physical one.

I can see a few other advtanges to going digital as well, such as much quicker and easier access to back Progs. It might mean I’ll buy fewer trades in future as well.
