Prog / Re: Prog 2252 - Depth Charge!

Swift thoughts from me. Loved the cover on this weeks Prog, that's exactly the sort of thing that'd make me pick it up on a whim.

Dredd I'm enjoying this, it was always going to boil down to Dredd vs a novelty hitman each week. This is a fun story that's balancing horrible violence and black humour very well. Just sheer enjoyment.

Diaboliks Not enjoying this sadly.

Scarlet Traces Storytelling episode. I'd forgotten a lot of this bit of the plot but this caught me up nicely. I know the quality of art on Progs is generally high, but this is just absolutey top tier stuff.

Pandora Perfect takes a bit of an unexpected turn (not the double-cross, we all saw that coming). It feels a little like resetting the setup, and I'm not finding the pacing quite as good as the shorter stories, but that's a minor thing as it's a fun, easy read and I've confidence this will unfold into a good tale. Looks great.

The Out - This just does what it likes from episode to episode. Not in a bad way. Whilst I'm not as high on this as others, I think it's a great story.

This is a tie I've been dreading as they're two of my absolute favourites. To echo the esteemed gentlemen above me, Johnny and Wulf are excellent in The Killing and it's the story I think is the most fun too with all the crazy killers and some lovely designs from Carlos: it's inherently daft, but such a great story. I love the epilogue as well, where the real villains of the piece get theirs.
However... I've banged on about Incident on Mayger Minor before and how I think it's the best, so it chinks in here with another vote from me.

Barrington, you mentioned a plastic envelope between the art and card. Is there a danger some of the ink will stick to the plastic if it's pressed too hard? - I've looked at old pages of my own stuff in a portfolio and seen that part of the artwork has ended up on the plastic  wallets.

All the art I've purchased where it's arrived flat, I've had in a plastic wallet. Had no issues with ink transferring, but it may be because if the short amount of time the art has been in the wallets.

However - what the guys above said about paper seems definitely the best option.

It's got to be Rage. It's the chummiest way to vote!

Got my copy today as well, it seems Tharg is confident I'll be renewing my sub in a couple of months time.

As others have said this is great: lovely oversized art and just a really cool little subscriber incentive. Nice one Tharg!

Looking at the last eight and there's some tough choices to be made.

I like Top Dog, it's a really fun story, beautifully painted, Alpha and Wulf are a great contrast to Dredd, but ultimately it's a bit throwaway when compared to Outlaw. That's one of the tales that cemented my love for Stront - it's got the Stix brothers before we got a bit over-Stixed, dozens of brilliant mutants including the legendary (in my and my brothers households) Smelly Quinn, the end of the Torso and Harvey, crap potato jokes, and my forum name comes from it. Come on Outlaw!

Film & TV / Re: Last movie watched...

Good luck with the Friday the 13th complete watch, I did this a few years back the quality is very variable (ie a lot of them really suck)

Hellraiser would be my suggestion of the next franchise to watch although after the first two they're all awful and even the second one isn't the best. Could you do something like watch all of John Carpenters films?

That's a damning review, sounds a lot more Murray the Miser than Magus Deathspell. As someone who obviously loves the original your words carry serious weight so I'll definitely be avoiding the new one. Thanks - and sorry it sucked!

Agree on that, it is a pain. I like to back stuff on kickstarter but when things are easily hitting their funding goals, a lot of the motivation is FOMO. I tend to stick to smaller stuff with comics usually so I'm hoping those bubblegum cards are worth the custom fees!

Very enjoyable read so far though.

I'm also voting for Beast. Alex nails it for me on why I'm not a huge fan of Moses - the basic idea of the kid getting shot and Alpha being all torn up is great, but Brood himself sucks. I also don't think this story is much fun, although the heads are good.

Barrington Boots - cover me I'm going for it...

Incident on Mayger Minor

YES COLIN!
I think Portrait could be the winner tbh.

I'm a bit torn on this one as I really like Traitor...but I think classic stront swings it with Rage.

I also played King's Bounty 2, the true sequel to my favourite ever game.  Didn't like it AT ALL.

Oh no! I love Kings Bounty and was thinking about getting this. It's no good then?

Prog / Re: Prog 2251 - Escape into the unknown

I feel like I was a bit harsh on last weeks Prog after reading this one, as it was on the whole very enjoyable.

Dredd Kicks off with a blast, still got an old school action feel to it which I am digging, great and gory artwork from Jake Lynch. Really liked the Brit Mechanismo robot in this episode.

Diaboliks Not a lot happens but something horrible is coming up I think. This one isn't for me really.

Scarlet Traces After not being super ethusiastic about it's return I'm a lot more invested in this already: agree with IP that the storytelling is really good here. Art is just incredible.

Pandora Perfect Zipping along at a fair old pace, it is a light read so far and I don't mind that, it's working for me so far. I'm assuming next week will see a lot of pet-related chaos.

The Out - Enjoyable as ever. I like the way that apart from 'Cyd's adventures' this isn't really about anything - it changes focus a lot, and you can never be sure what will happen each episode but it's a very easy and enjoyable read.

Top Prog for me!
