Other Reviews / Re: Dredd: The Complete Case Files

Quote from: Max Headroom on 31 January, 2024, 05:57:57 PMI was thinking if the mistake in Case Files 42 is going to be fixed, is there any chance errors in other books could be addressed for subsequent printings? I was thinking of 'The Out', 'Fiends of the Eastern Front' volume 1 (i.e. 'Stalingrad') and 'America 2'.

It's probably worth contacting them yourself like BSS did, it's unlikely they're reading this thread.

Garth Ennis "Helter Skelter" story in progs 1250-1261 canonised the idea that all 2000AD stories are different alternate dimensions that can crossover with Mega City One given the right Dimension Hopping mcguffins, and last years "Judgement Days" used the same concept as the basis for it's own crossover madness. So this kind of thing has been possible for some time.

Anderson using psychic magic to cross dimensions has been done a few times too (IIRC, she physically linked to Judge Death while he was floating around in a void dimension), so it's not too wild to think she might have linked to Azimuth that way.

Has there been any word on a new Hershey book collecting "The Cold in the Bones"? I missed this story in the prog, it would suck if such an important story missed collection.

What stories has the character revealed at the end of Dredd been in before? I didn't recognize the name and it's proving ungoogleable!

I'm assuming this is just the Apex editions reduced to a size than can actually fit on a bookshelf? If so: I'm interested. The impractical size of this things was a big turn off for me before.

Probably worth emailing Rebellion about it so they can fix it on the digital versions for future printings, they may not be reading this thread.

My bad, I got confused with an earlier post showing a digital version with the whole book in the wrong font.

I'm pretty sure it's just a technical glitch with the digital versions. The printed versions have no such issue.

Looks like Case Files 43 contains every 2000AD story up to and including the Origins lead-in story "The Connection", and most of the Megazine stories that were published during Origins. This sets up Case Files 44 to contain Origins in its entirety!

Mega City Book Club managed to get an interview with him in 2021, it was quite interesting:

I'd like to extend my posting priviledges if possible! At the moment I only seem to be able to post in a small number of threads (I thought it was zero until recently). I'd like to discuss the Prog, Meg and Graphic Novels etc!

That's really impressive. Any favorite hidden gems that don't get talked about often?

Each volume is ~6 months of stories, so 2022's stories would be in volumes 73 and 74.

All 40 currently released volumes seem to be in stock on the 2000AD store (except for Volume 1, weirdly, but that one is very easy to find elsewhere):

That's interesting: Mandroid will be in Case Files 41. So in 17 years, the case files have collected 23 years of content. That's roughly 18 months of content collected each year.

By my calculation (assuming the prog, meg and case files continue publishing at their current rate indefinitely), that means the Case Files will be publishing today's stories in 2035, but won't catch up with the prog/meg entirely until 2055.

I could see them leaving out some of the non-dreddverse strips from the Prog, some of them might be quite baffling to a TPB-only reader.
