I have about forty magazines with articles mainly related to Judge Dredd but some have references to 2000AD, too many to photocopy. If there are any in particular that you want please email me and I will see what I can do.

I can't seem to get let this go. What's the problem with British comics being worth so much, why not jump on the American band wagon and sell some of our comics across the pond. I'm proud of what 2000AD has done and the recogition that it has achieved around the world. I've lost count of the number of artists that have begun their career in Thargs pages and then been pouched by the Americans. Judge Dredd is doing for England what Superman, Batman etc have done for America. This is 2000AD's time. There are many very collectable 'Progs', for example issue 149 the first appearance of Judge Death, issue 150 the first appearance of Judge Anderson. The legendary 71, 72, 77 & 78 (all banned never to be reprinted), I could go on, there are many characters that have been introduced by 2000AD and their first appearances in whatever issue automatically inceases in value. Anyway a precedent has been set, 2000AD No 2 sold for ?365, that's not necessarily a bad thing. The more collectable 2000AD becomes, the more readers join the fold, the more money Rebellion make, the more money they can pay their artists and writers and maybe we can attract our guys back home, simple!!

General / 2000AD Number 2 sells for ?365 part two!!

I don't plan on dragging out this debate much longer but I would like to add to my earlier point. The whole point of having the comic complete with the free gift is that is how it originally came, the nostalgia would add to the value. Also I think that we are missing the point in focusing on the free gifts. The value is also in the condition of the comic. The 2000AD No 2 that sold for ?365 and the No 1 that sold for ?230 were (according to the seller) in perfect condition. This is also why they sold for such a high price. If you compare Uncanny X-men 94 and Uncanny X-men's first annual, they both sell for three, four or five hundred pounds in very good condition, but this leaps to ?1,000 in perfect mint condition as they are so much harder to find. This is moreso for the early 2000AD's beacuse they were not collected around the world like the American comics and they were only preserved by a few in the UK, you have to search high and low to find reasonable copies, let alone near mint. In comparison I don't think that ?365 is to high for a mint copy of 2000AD No 2. Considering that this issue introduced Judge Dredd to the world and with the two new Judge Dredd movie's around the corner and also Rebellions Judge Dredd game, along with their current promotions and 2000AD's 25th Birthday, this comic has a long way to go before it settles down in price. If anyone outthere has a copy hang on to it, prices are going to go through the roof when the Americans catch on. Before I go and if anyone is still listening, another copy of 2000AD No 1 has just been put on ebay and bidding starts at ?220, lets see if the earlier bids were glitches, I doubt it!

The whole point of the free gift is that 90% of kids did tear of down the park and throw the Space Spinner (Frisby) into the pond on it's first flight, they also stuck the bionic stickers on their arses and thought they were Steve Austin, hence there are not many to be found, therefore they are now valuable and probably worth over ?100 each. Lucky for some!

There were two Prog 1's with free gift and one of them sold for ?134 and the other's final bid was ?230. I don't know how to do the link that Wake did, but it was bought by the same person who paid ?365 for number 2. I suppose they are worth what someone will pay for them, but both of those comics are very hard to find in mint condition due to the poor quality of paper that they were printed on and especially hard to find with the free gifts.

I was bidding recently for 2000AD related merchandise on ebay and was amazed to see that 2000AD No 2 in mint condition with the free gift went for a final bid of ?365.00. Also number 1 in mint condition went for ?230.00. Both final bids were on 20th March 2002. So look after your collections everyone, they are worth a small fortune.
