Lucky Luke and other chilhood memories.

Since getting back into asterix and tintin via various carboot sales i have been swamped by a feeling of nostalgic fuzziness. Which got me wondering. Can you still get lucky luke books? if i remember it was y the guys wot did asterix.

wich got me also thinking about other books i had as a nipper (mainly got from batleys cash and carry )

one was a series of books about a duck called gideon who had a rabbit mate called lupin and im sure they did a cartoon with tim brooke taylor ?!?!

and whilst trawling the second hand bookshops i have never found the old star trek photo novels of wich i had two. "the devil in the dark" and "piece of the action".

I have a couple of Lucky Luke books- cant understand a word but the art is lovely! They are available in English too but I havent gotten around to getting any

When I was a kid my mum was engaged to a Frenchman, so my brother and I spent several summers in France in the '70s, with nothing to watch, read or listen to in English. So we played with the French guy's teen sister's toys and read her French comic books, including Lucky Luke. When I said 'read' I mean we looked at the pictures. Lucky Luke didn't hold my attention as much as the French editions of Disney stories featuring the adventures of Scrooge McDuck and Goofy.

Funny thing is, when I saw the thread title I had images of Mogzilla's childhood: reading Lucky Luke, listening to Serge Lama records, drinking cognac and smoking Gitanes!

sounds like a porn star but I vaguely remember owning one of those books, lotta smokin' in it.

That, and the fact that its readership is composed mostly of native French speakers! Lucky Luke's never exactly been popular or well known in Britain.

As Satchmo has all ready said Cinebooks the 9th art have the Lucky luke books In english as well as a few others
I've also bought the Blake and Mortimer books from this site.

I had a french father so from an early age I was introduced to Asterix,Tin Tin, Ducoboo, Lucky luke, Rin Tin Tin and Bizarley enough Duck McScrooge (donald Duck charater) Who had some wonderfull books but only ever in French.This was back in the early seventies.
The lucky luke books are not as complicated or as rich in humour as the Asterix books but still worth getting Imo.

Shouldn't that be Scrooge McDuck or is that some odd French translation of the name?

Asterix for me. My mate insists he learned everything he knows about European history from Goscinny & Uderzo. And he laughed a lot.
