I was in talks with Black Flame about doing a VCs novel. I'd like to have done something with the original Harlem Heroes, too...

"In terms of Dredd on the Moon the recetn Black Library novel (Eclipse?) ties the Moon Marshal stories together with the recently reprinted John Smith Dredd on the moon story in such a way to set up Breathing space - I believe the novelist collaborated with Rob to get it spot on."

Eclipse was actually written after Breathing Space but it's set chronologically before it. Rob Williams and I got together and chatted about the threads of the story to make sure everything connects. I put in references that pay off in Breathing Space - among other things, Eclipse shows the final fate of Judge Marshal Tex and establishes some of the problems facing Luna-1 (such as the lack of Zipper Bikes).

I was lucky enough to see a workprint of this movie a few weeks back - if you liked the show, you'll be over the moon with the big-screen flick.

Lobo sez:
"Fear not, fish - having finished listening to it, I suspect that the Grud is Dead Logan is based on old comics character Jet Ace Logan, rather than our Tank Ace Logan."

Actually, I named him after William F. Nolan's future cop. Any similarity to persons living or dead is, as they say, purely coincidental.

Thanks for the comments, Dev. Glad you liked it.
I've got more stuff on the way - a Dredd audio ("Grud is Dead") and a Rogue novel ("Blood Relative").

>i think he may have been one of us years ago

If by that you mean a reader from Prog #1, then yup, it's true.

General / Judge Dredd: Dreddline - on line!

Some blatant self-promotion...

As part of the BBC Cult website's new comics domain, my original full-cast audio drama JUDGE DREDD: DREDDLINE is now on-line for streaming playback via the Beeb's web portal at http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/comics/audio/index.shtml

It's free! And if you like it, be sure to check out my other 2000AD fiction, the audio dramas JUDGE DREDD: JIHAD and JUDGE DREDD: GRUD IS DEAD (coming soon from Big Finish), and the Black Flame novel JUDGE DREDD: ECLIPSE.

>I just reckoned you were foreshadowing the big autumn Dredd tale with certain happening in the novel.
>I'm wrong am I..?

Yes. And No. The "certain happening" does tie into a forthcoming strip, but it's the Luna-1 story 'Breathing Space', not the rumoured big autumn thingy.

Bolt-01 sez:
>Does that mean that the events in the Black >Flame novels are to be treated as 'canon' then?

I'd say that's up to the reader, but certainly I tried to make sure my 2K stuff (novels and audios) fits in with the comics canon. I've put subtle links in all my Dredd stuff, so events from the audios get mentioned in the novel, characters cross over, etc.

>I'm assuming that you liased with Rob and the >Dredd people to enable this?

Yup, Rob sent me some of his script for 'Breathing Space' and the novel was vetted (as all of them are) by Alan Barnes.

FYI, my new Black Flame Dredd novel "Eclipse" sets up some of the plotline elements for Rob's "Breathing Space" story.
