Interview with Dan and Richard on the Kingdom strip:

Something interesting is that Dan mention that Kingdom is not done which is great news and I felt that the last series the last episode was very much disappointing and a too abrupt ending

In a interview with him he also stated that he wants to recreate the classic Dredd tales, he mention Judge Child specifically.  For me it feels more like CoD

The first thing I did was to remove the following from the equation and that is that Pat created 2000AD. This is about writing and not what was created and who created it.  Pat has certainly created (wrote for the context of the thread) some of the best work in the prog: Nemesis, Slaine, Savage, Finn  and ABC Warriors. This we can measure up against Abnett's own creations: Brink, Lawless, Grey Area, Kingdom and Insurrection. Both have some weaker candidates Flesh for Mills and Sin/Dex for Abnett. Sin/Dex is just a story that mills around and feels too much for me like it is directionless (adding too this is that I never warm-up to the main characters). Flesh is just plainly average, nothing special.  Mills problem is that all his stories especially the later one feels like the same old theme over and over again. He just rehashes his stories give them awesome artist to draw them and there we go. Abnett's stories all feel fresh different and original. Lawless and Brink is to me two off the best new thrills in any comic the past two decades.

My choice is Dan Abnett

Thank you Tharg for keep giving us the Thrills !!!!

Dredd – or me the highlight of this episode is the wordplay between Anderson and both the Angel and Azrael.  The episode also ends with an interesting climax. So far, the whole series reminds me of City of the Damned, but I think that was Williams aim from the beginning.

Full Tilt Boogie – I am enjoying this series and it does have a manga feeling to it.  Great story great art more please.

The Out – There is not much of a story here yet, but the first chapter is more of an introduction to a strange new world. This feels remarkably familiar I have been there a stranger in stranger land without the cultural and even language references. I am ready for this strange new world. Great visuals especially that opening page.

The Order – As per usual this series is a fun ride but at this point it is a lot of talking going on. I like the quip about growing old.

Diaboliks – I like the way the boss-fight ended in not your typically fashion
as a new team member is added
. So far so good to the newest entry in the Caballistics-verse.

Got it downloaded and I enjoyed the special especially the Kingdom and Red Sea strips.  The Terror Tale from Al Ewing I never read so that was nice as well.

At least Stickleback is coming back but that is in prog 2200. I love his work but the problem as you guys stated is that he has so many unfinished work and then he starts a new series.

This was always been my main problem with Sin/Dex the small chunks of stories. Just as the story starts to get into its stride it stops. But as you say it can also be due to the current worldwide issues

This has been a really tough one as both men are superb world builders able to craft great characters and thrilling narratives. It's really come down to the slimmest of margins. Much as I love Edginton's work I've got to give my vote to Abnett. Lawless and Brink are the two stories that made a subscription to Tharg's mighty organs a must-buy for me. If we'd had another series or two of Thistlebone this could have gone the other way though it really is very close.

Ian Edginton did not write Thislebone it was TC Eglington
